I was asked on the phone today, “How are you handling everything?”

And I was standing here looking at this.

The second building coming down.

That building held a lot of memories. A lot of Kenosha history. A lot of people’s stories. And standing here watching it come down, I know there is a lot of responsibility in being the person who gets to decide what rises here next.

And I realized today that I’m in a different place.

I’m here. The wagon is here.

I’m not overwhelmed. I’m not overthinking every possible outcome. And when I say I’m ready, I don’t mean I have everything planned.

I mean I’m ready for whatever comes next. And whoever comes next.

There are going to be mountains and valleys. Life is probably going to chew me up a few more times.

But I know I won’t crumble.

I’ve made it through this by working.

Making pies. Making deliveries. Showing up at markets. Getting to football games. Coaching when I can. Getting up the next morning and doing it all again.

And by appreciating the people who check in at the most uncanny times.

Sometimes it’s a serious “How are you?”

Sometimes it’s a text telling me the Carrot Cake Jam makes a great Old Fashioned.

Both matter more than you probably know.

But this time around, I’m going to do something differently.

I’m going to be calling YOU.

So don’t be surprised when you hear from me. Don’t be surprised when I ask for help.

Because this isn’t just about putting another building here.

There was a Kenosha legacy here long before me. There are memories in this ground that belong to a lot of people. And I have a responsibility to pour everything I have left into making sure what comes next is worthy of them.

Today we razed a building.

Tomorrow, with your help, your love and your support, we continue to raise a Kenosha legacy.

Quick road trip with my favorite delivery guy.

Esox and I made a run up to Door County Cherry Hut to get them stocked before the holiday weekend, and fall is officially starting to sneak its way onto the shelves.

Autumn Pear
Carrot Cake
Cranberry Lime
Holiday Cranberry

A little taste of what’s coming next because apparently I’m ready for fall whether summer is finished with us or not.

The Cherry Hut is stocked and ready for the holiday weekend!

There’s something about a beautiful morning at the bakery that makes you stop for a second and appreciate it all.

The West girls will be at the Lake Mills Farmers Market today from 2–6 PM with pies and all the good stuff.

Beautiful mornings. Afternoon markets. Pie wagon days.

See you at the market, Lake Mills. ❤️

Tomorrow morning:

Ariana will be at Harbor Market.
Kaylee will be at Park Ridge.
I’ll be at Lake Mills from 7–10 AM with 6-count cinnamon rolls for $12. (Sunday 7-10 am)

And at 10:30, I’ll be in the stands.

Because it is officially FOOTBALL SEASON.

This is something Esox and I have always really enjoyed together. I used to coach him, right up until he got about 60 pounds on me and I realized my own son could probably pancake me. Obviously, I could never let him know that.

I started this bakery in Kenosha in 2010.

It has taken a lot of strength to build it, rebuild it, protect it and keep showing up for it. And at some point, I think you have to ask yourself an important question:

What are you protecting with all that strength?

Your home?
Your child?
Your creativity?
Your peace?
Your future?

Because eventually, the fortress is supposed to contain something worth protecting.

You don’t build walls just to prove you’re strong enough to build them.

You build them so something inside can flourish.

I know what’s inside mine.

My son.

I’m building. I’m working. I’m being strong so he has the room to flourish.

And sometimes that means the bakery closes at 10 AM because kickoff is at 10:30 and his mom belongs in those stands.

So Lake Mills is officially on POP-UP HOURS until football season ends.

Like and follow the page for weekly hours.

See you at the bakery in the morning.

Then I’ve got a game to get to.

Have you ever been so excited to finish your LAST delivery to State Fair that you forgot your pants??

Me neither.

Pants are always a priority. 🤣

STATE FAIR and IRISH FEST 2026 ARE OFFICIALLY A WRAP.

We left it all out there… even the pants. 😂

Delivery Day 10.

6 a.m. and the trailer has a flat tire, rain is in the forecast, and Esox’s last Gridiron games are on the line.

Luckily, my adult adopted son is already in the parking lot with a patch kit, because apparently this is what family looks like at 6 a.m.

Brooke already made the drive up to Lake Mills to save my butt, stocking Kenosha Woodman’s and the Brat Stop. And today is bittersweet because it’s Brooke’s last day before she makes her move to Georgia.

We were so lucky to have her as part of our pie family.

Because I cannot do this alone.

We are not perfect. We missed Harbor Market. I missed the first Gridiron game. Tires go flat. Rain happens. Plans fall apart.

But we support each other. We figure it out. And we always show up.

Now patch the tire. Load the pies. And get me to that football field.

State Fair Delivery Day 8.

My body is telling me I’m exhausted and the next Elsie Mae headline is going to read:

“Pie Lady Crushed by Out-of-Control Bakery Rack During Tragic Unloading Accident.”

But the ENERGY IS SO GOOD.

So many smiles. Waves. Llamas. Steers. Fair people. All of it.

My body says, “Please stop.”

My brain says:

YES YES YES I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I’M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!

Because today is also Irish Fest Delivery Day 1, and apparently the road to Irish Fest is paved in caramel and Irish cream.

5 gallons of caramel.
5 gallons of ganache.
20 pounds of Irish Cream frosting.
THE TEA ROOM AT IRISH FEST.

By Brigid’s fire, I was made for this.

Luckily, I have people in my life who offer to help, and I’m actually taking them up on it when I need it. Atlas and Arieah are meeting me at the bakery to help, and Dirtbike Eddie is officially your State Fair Day 9 delivery driver.

Because tonight, I have a Pie Fry destiny.

UGH. Day 7 of State Fair deliveries.

First picture: nailed it.
Second picture: don’t cry over broken pie.

Broken pie isn’t going to break me. Not even close. I’m in my State Fair element.

If showing steers, hogs and chickens taught me anything, it’s that when the s**t hits the ground, you scoop it, fluff it, shine the buckle and grab your damn ribbon because the show must go on.

Now back to the bakery because the brownies for Irish Fest sure as hell aren’t going to make themselves.

Because we couldn’t let apples get ALL the attention this week.

Snuck in a trip to Door County with the amazing Chef Miles to restock The Cherry Hut before State Fair craziness kicked off.
