Dale's Desserts

Dale's Desserts This page is about my little booth at the Lafayette Horse Farm on Johnson Street, across
from the old Raccoon Records.

Dale's Desserts is my little bakery and desserts booth at the Lafayette Horse Farm on Johnson Street, across from the old Raccoon Records. The Market at the Horse Farm is open every Saturday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. I sell cheesecake slices, fudge, brownies, and other various desserts. I will also use this page to discuss cooking, maybe some silly stuff...probably some silly stuff! ....and also

promote other vendors I
like and stores, products, causes that I like and have researched. Most businesses wouldn't take their business page to promote another business! ....but this is my page, and I'll do whatever I want on it! Some of these people have helped me in various ways, setting up my tent, lending me warm gloves, clothes, sharing their products with me, or just being kind and good people. They deserve recognition, and if I've eaten their food, I'll give a review of it, which will always be a favorable review, because I wouldn't eat their food if it wasn't good!

I will be selling my "Dale's Desserts" fudge and brownies (and maybe cookies) at the Shadows on the Teche Arts and Crafts Fair Saturday from 9 AM until 4 PM, Main St., New Iberia. There will be tons of vendors selling pies, soap, bread, art, wood carvings, you name it. Plus food trucks, and with the entrance free you get tours of the Shadows home. Come by and visit!

The weather should be fantastic tomorrow. Before you go see Batman beat up Superman, stop by the Horse Farm Market and check out the vendors and walk your dog. Or cat.

This Saturday I'll be selling my fudge and brownies at the Shadows Arts and Crafts Fair if anyone wants to come visit. Henri and Kevin, the excellent bread makers will also be there, plus a lot of other vendors. The fair is open from 9 AM until 4 PM.

KING CAKE CHEESECAKE - available at the Market at the Horse Farm, tomorrow, Johnston St. across from Mel's Diner and the old Raccoon Records - 8 A.M. until 12 Noon. (I taste tested it, tastes just like King Cake...mmm....) There are three other vendors who sell King Cakes, regular and filled, and they all taste different, so if you want a local one with a different flavor, come get one. They all also offer samples of their king cake to taste....

This weekend is the last weekend before Christmas! If you want to shop local for stocking stuffers, presents, and FOOD, the Horse Farm Market is the place to do it. We're open from 8 AM until 12 Noon, and here's a list of some of the things available, for those who've never visited yet: (Everything at the Horse Farm Market is either hand made or home made.)
-Fudge! Brownies, cakes, home made bread, cookies, fancy decorated cookies better than Starbucks (yes I said it! They're great, I tasted them!), gumbo, salsa, BBQ sauce, homemade fancy ravioli, sauces and pasta, fresh seafood, fruits, vegetables, toffee, boudin!, pecans, honey, candy, pralines, pies, fancy flavored sugars, popsicle sticks, juices, eggs......and the possible food trucks.....

And, that's just the food!

-They also have old maps, hand made knives, swords, bow and arrows, soap, hand made clothes, kid clothes, Mardi Gras and other style masks, duck calls, Christmas wreaths, walking sticks, greeting cards, pins, pens, (someone makes their own fancy pens, they look cool....), ...and other stuff I can't remember....

And the weekly Cajun band, ...and face painting, for any kids or adults who want to get face painted to attend Star Wars
Episode VII Saturday afternoon!

This weekend is the weekend before Thanksgiving, so if you want to shop local at the Market at the Horse Farm, the weather looks to be great after these storms pass. I'm going to give a shout out and promote my fellow vendors here - a LOT of stuff can be refrigerated/frozen/stored if you want to shop now for a Thanksgiving feast. Obviously already frozen things like Tracy's ravioli from BonVie Pasta is already frozen. My fudge, brownies and cake loaves can be frozen. All of Henri's breads and brownies can be frozen - I've frozen her bread for three months, and was still excellent! Of course Russell's BBQ sauce can be stored in the cabinet....if you're tired of turkey, I have barbecued on many a Thanksgiving. Linda Jo's Salsa is another stored item which goes with any meal. Gumbo! Taste better the next day anyway, as they say, and he sells them by the quarts to take home! There's so many other vendors, the juice folks, all can be refrigerated, the cookie bakers, the pies can definitely be frozen, I've got a piece of pie sitting in my freezer waiting to be eaten by me tonight for supper!! So if you get a chance, check everybody out on Saturday from 8 AM until 12 Noon.

Saturday at the Lafayette Farmers and Artists Market at the Horse Farm - looks like gorgeous weather, lows in the 50's, highs in the 80's. So....come early wearing poodle skirts, leave later wearing blue jean jackets and harem pants. Drive up in your Mustang, leave in your Tran Am....
