BLTs 🥓 🥬 🍅 on my soft white fluffy bread 🍞 and loaded potato soup 🥔

Fun fact: this loaf was frozen and we pulled out the slices we needed, toasted them and made these delicious sandwiches! Love giving my family bread without all the preservatives in it! 🍞

We recently organized our pantry and found an old loaf of store bought bread that expired back in May but it didn’t show any signs of aging. Makes you wonder what they put in there to make it last so long 😬

As a cottage baker, I wanted to give y’all some insight on what that entails.

⭐️What does it mean to be a Cottage Baker in Louisiana?

A Louisiana cottage baker is a small, home based food business that prepares baked goods in a residential kitchen under Louisiana’s cottage food laws. We can make and sell approved, low-risk baked goods directly to customers while following the state’s labeling, food handling, and sales rules.

Being a cottage baker doesn’t mean there are no food safety standards. It does mean the business operates under a set of rules made for small, residential food businesses.

✨Did you know L&L’s Little Loaves is ServSafe certified?

Being ServSafe certified means I have completed food safety training and important practices such as proper food handling, preventing cross-contamination, personal hygiene, cleaning and sanitizing, temperature control, and preventing foodborne illness.

ServSafe certification and Louisiana’s cottage food rules are two different things, BUT I chose to become ServSafe certified because food safety and quality is important to me and the people I’m baking for. ❤️

Fresh baked homemade bread is available again this week AND we have a new menu offering even MORE options 🥖✨

⚫️To be upfront and transparent, the price of the smoked sausage loaves did go up due to increasing costs on sausage. We enjoy using our locally made Heleaux’s smoked sausage!

⭐️We are now offering pull apart DINNER ROLLS! They come as a 15 count and will be sure to be a great addition to your dinner!
