This is a support page. My very dear friend Shayla Crooks has cancer. She has triple negative cancer. If you google that it will scare the pants off of you. Hence the Big Girl Panty Brigade. When sh*t hits the fan we are hoping to have enough support that it won't go far. This cancer has to be faced and dealt with. The Crooks are up to it but we won't let them do this alone! As if this family were
n't special enough (because really they are you just have to take it from me) they are always there to help you NO matter WHAT! Even with cancer Shayla was caring for her elderly mother and her son Ian who has Aspergers. Her wonderful husband Scot helped but he works second shift so evenings after chemo were hard. Well, that was last time. Oh yeah, she has beat this once already. Just barely a year ago actually. This time her mother is having chemo the same time she is. Yep, you read that correctly. Her mother has cancer too. She is currently residing with her other daughter Cookie (she's an awesome woman and a nurse). Scot is picking up the slack and running ragged but really everything is on him now and he is still on second shift. Evenings after Chemo are still rough but so far so good. For those of you that don't know Shayla has severe PTSD involving needles so infusions and labs are extra hard. Severe physical damage can be wrought by this woman if she does not have enough medication to drug her. Her Dr's understand and do a great job with managing it but it makes after chemo really difficult. She wants to get up and do things but then she falls asleep away from her Bi-pap. Oh yeah, she has congenital lung deformities that cause her to have chronic lung complications. *Really how this woman keeps on keeping on is above my tiny mindset. Anyway, all that having been said' this family is worth the love and devotion. You won't find a family with kinder souls or bigger hearts.
