Bear Creek Creations

Bear Creek Creations Bear Creek Creations Bakery's mission is to provide fresh, flavorful baked items, made with the fine We love to cook but prefer to bake.

Six years ago, in 2016, Judy Bartmann and Pat Day began Bear Creek Creations Bakery. Since we are both retired, and our families are scattered across the country, baking for a Farmer’s Market seemed to be the ideal outlet for our cooking. Pat is retired from the USDA and Judy is a retired college professor. We have worked all over the United States, collecting regional recipes to add to our offeri

ngs. This gives us the opportunity to offer different items on our menu. We have been lifelong bakers, beginning with 4-H projects and progressing through cooking classes in high school. As you might imagine, we are avid readers and collectors of cookbooks. We constantly try out new recipes and flavor combinations. Our motto is “Fresh Baked Goodies with Love in Every Bite”. We have Farmer's Market booths at:

Torrington Farmer’s Market, which starts in late June. The market is held from 4-6 p.m. every Thursday afternoon. Painters Farm Stand at Henry, NE which starts in mid-June. The market is held from 10-2 every Saturday. We accept and encourage orders for pickup at our booth. We have established payment options through Facebook Messaging and Square. Follow us on Facebook for location updates, menu specials, and convenient purchasing.

Storing Onions the Right Way
Onions are the flavor foundation of countless dishes. Keep them fresh with a few easy tricks:
Storage Tips:
Cool & Dry: Whole onions last longest in a basket or mesh bag in a dark pantry.
Keep Separate: Don’t store onions next to potatoes—both will spoil faster.
Cut Storage: Once chopped, store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 7 days.
Recipe Inspiration — Mountain Top Caramelized Onions
Slowly cook sliced onions in butter with a dash of Mountain Top Garlic until golden and sweet. Pile onto burgers, steaks, or roasted veggies for a rich, savory boost.

Sweet Corn's dual nature: While often considered a vegetable, sweet corn is technically a grain and a fruit, specifically a type of fruit called a caryopsis, according to Wikipedia.
Worldwide cultivation: Corn is grown on every continent except Antarctica.
The sugar rush: The sweetness of sweet corn comes from its high sugar content, which converts to starch rapidly after harvest. This is why it's best eaten fresh.
Kernel arrangement: A characteristic feature of sweet corn is that the kernels are always arranged in an even number of rows on the cob.
Historical uses: Native Americans used sweet corn leaves as a type of chewing gum.
Tallest sweet corn: The tallest sweet corn plant ever recorded reached a height of 35 feet and 3 inches, according to Tony McCombie.
Nutritional value: Sweet corn is a good source of vitamins A and C, thiamine, potassium, and fiber.
Beyond the cob: While we often think of eating it on the cob, corn is used to make a variety of products, including cereal, sweetener, cooking oil, and even fuel.
Only a small percentage: Only about 1% of the corn grown in the United States is sweet corn.
Color variations: Sweet corn comes in a variety of colors, including white, yellow, and even black, blue, green, grey, purple, and red.

Friday night football isn’t just for the big league, it’s a time for families, friends, and flavor-packed meals that are easy to prep and fun to eat. Using a grill is a focal point of the party. These are some grilling safety tips for review.
Grilling Safety:
Use charcoal or propane grills on level, non-flammable surfaces
Keep a fire extinguisher or spray bottle nearby
Do not leave the grill unattended—assign a "grill captain"
Use long-handled tools and keep kids away from grill area
Preheat grill for at least 10 minutes; clean grate before use
Avoid flare-ups—trim excess fat from meats
If reheating over flame, use foil packets or cast iron
Keep all warming trays covered when not serving
Never place grill too close to cars or tented areas

Brisket Sliders with Smoking Blue Bonnet
Why it works for tailgating:
Brisket is classic game-day food—tender, smoky, and packed with flavor. Smoking Blue Bonnet gives it that rich, subtle smokiness and depth without needing a smoker.
Ingredients
2 lbs cooked brisket (smoked, slow-cooked, or oven-roasted)
1½ tbsp Smoking Blue Bonnet spice blend
½ cup BBQ sauce (optional, depending on taste)
12 slider buns or small rolls
Optional toppings: sliced pickles, crispy onions, slaw, or cheese
Instructions:
Season the Brisket: If brisket is uncooked, rub generously with Smoking Blue Bonnet and slow roast or smoke until fork tender. If using pre-cooked brisket, slice or shred and warm it in a pan with the spice blend and a splash of water or broth.
Optional Glaze: Add BBQ sauce and simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Assemble Sliders: Pile brisket onto slider buns. Add pickles or crispy onions for texture. Serve warm—wrap in foil to keep hot if serving at a tailgate.
Tailgate Tip:
Keep the brisket warm in a slow cooker or insulated carrier and let guests build their own sliders at the table.

One of our most requested game-day recipes? Brisket Sliders with Smoking Blue Bonnet.
Slow-cooked and seasoned to perfection, these mini sandwiches pack big flavor into a small bite. Topped with crunchy slaw and served on soft buns, they’re easy to make in bulk and even easier to devour.
This blend is made for meats—but it also shines on roasted nuts, potato wedges, or even popcorn for a savory, smoky snack spread that scores every time.
Game Day Tip: Cook the brisket a day ahead and reheat it in the slow cooker before kickoff—more time to enjoy the game and less time in the kitchen.
When it comes to football food, Smoking Blue Bonnet always brings the win.
