Balkan Bakery had the profound honor of crafting the ceremonial pogača for Kraljevska Večera — the Royal Dinner hosted at Svečana Sala Crkve Svetog Nikole here in Chicago, in the presence of Crown Prince Filip and Princess Danica Karađorđević.

The pogača is more than bread. It is tradition, reverence, and welcome — shaped by hand, baked with intention. To prepare it for an evening dedicated to connecting our diaspora children with the homeland, for a room filled with generations of Serbian families who have preserved their faith, language, and culture far from home... there are no words that fully capture what that means to us.

Prince Filip’s words that evening — of deep gratitude to the Chicago Serbian community — echoed everything we believe in at Balkan Bakery. This is why we do what we do. Not just to bake, but to carry something forward.

On March 8th, over 200 women gathered at Ambar to celebrate solidarity, courage, and creativity. This wasn’t just a gathering—it was a living testament to the power of community, shared heritage, and lifting each other up.
