Only two more days until our National Donut Day! Here is a little history on NDD (as we call it).
1) Meet Helen Purvis (bottom left), a brave woman from Huntington, Indiana who sparked the “Doughnut Lassies” legacy during WW1 that still lives on today. Determined to lift the soldier’s spirits, Helen and other women devised a plan to serve them donuts and coined the name “Doughnut Lassies.” Together they offered 9,000 hot donuts and fresh coffee every day to soldiers! National Donut Day celebrates these women and soldiers!
2) Meet our GM Brandon’s Great Great Grandfather, Frank Zachary (bottom right), who served in WW1. We sure hope he was a recipient of the donuts served by the Doughnut Lassies!
Come celebrate National Donut Day at Jack’s on Friday!
