Yes, we are rebranding and changing our name to BO’S DONUTS OF KOKOMO! We are very excited!
Here’s the backstory…
Jack’s Donuts began in 1961 in New Castle, IN as a family owned donut shop. Around 2013, the third Jack began franchising and established over 25+ franchises. The franchises were going very well and the Jack’s Donuts brand was very popular. Around 2022, he decided to build a large volume donut factory to fulfill mass orders mainly for big box stores, which was very costly. Unfortunately for him, it was taking twice as long and ten times as much money than estimated. Unable to make the ongoing payments, he had no choice but to file bankruptcy on the Jack’s Donuts of Indiana Commissary. As a result of the bankruptcy, a group bought the factory and sold the original Jack’s Donut store along with the Jack’s Donuts brand name to an individual living in Alabama with no donut, bakery, or restaurant experience.
The new owner of Jack’s Donuts sent out a new 194 page agreement for the existing Jack’s Donuts franchisees in April. This FDD would have given him almost complete control of our donut shop. We will spare all the details, but we absolutely could NOT sign an agreement that we felt would change the integrity of our local donut shop. We felt we would have had to raise our prices significantly, we would have been at his mercy with his chosen vendors and products and we just could not risk the quality of our donut and icing recipes. His donuts/icing have been changed in his store and we do feel they inferior or substandard to ours.
SO, we made the decision to NOT sign what we considered to be a ridiculous agreement and no longer be a Jack’s Donuts franchise. We decided to rebrand and become solely independent! There were many other Jack’s Donuts franchisees who did not sign as well and are rebranding/rebranded. We hope this answers many of your questions.
We are extremely excited to be rebranding to Bo’s Donuts. Our donuts and icing recipes will remain the same. We hand make all our own donuts, icings, and glaze fresh every night in our store. Our espresso drinks and our energy boba drinks will remain the same. You may notice some new names or name changes. We will be rolling out new products/bakery selections so there will even be some new choices. We do have a lot planned for the store!
We would like to thank you for over seven years of your support, and we look forward to your continued support! Our Mom & Pop donut shop is truly Mom & Pop and their two sons who were born and raised in Indiana. This community really means a lot to us!
Now to wrap this is up…please excuse us while we switch over to Bo’s Donuts. Graphics have come down and new graphics are being made locally by Clifford Signs, Inc. Any remaining Jack’s products will be gone. Our Bo’s boxes are currently being manufactuered. It may take us a just minute to get the store all Bo’s branded, but it’s happening soon!
