Every year we count down the weeks to strawberry season. Even though there are a lot of fun things to bake during the fall and winter seasons, our hearts belong to spring and summer produce. Strawberry season kicks off our new season of baking, and after the long, cold winter it is such a relief.

We recently went on our annual berry pick. Year 12? 13? Honestly, I’ve forgotten. Our annual picks started before we had our brick and mortar and we were baking in the back of ! We have been busy processing, jamming and using the fresh fruit for pastries and baked goods.

But, with all of that, we are incredibly excited about a new season pastries. As long as there are local/regional strawberries available we will have strawberry pastries! Hooray!

Hello! We are looking for a new person to join our bake team!

The dream candidate has love, care and curiosity for food, produce, + foodways, is kind and respectful, enjoys a busy kitchen/shop, and loves to laugh.

The position involves production baking of cookies, scones, components (creams/crumbs/etc), veggie/fruit prep, everyday cakes, doughs, and so on. The eventual possibility of lamination/croissant team too (depending on our needs).

In addition, daily cleaning, including dishes, sweeping/mopping, restocking ingredients etc, are part of the position. it’s all part of the day to day life here.

We are looking for someone 4-5 days a week, 32-40 hours. Must be available one weekend day (because weekends are our busiest, it is required for everyone). 2-3 early mornings starting at 4am. Kitchen experience is lovely plus, but not required (shoot your shot!).

We are hiring a baker!

We are looking for someone that can work Sunday-Wednesdays (training days/hours may differ), and be available for some early mornings starting at 4a. The right candidate works hard, but loves to laugh, is kind, enjoys the repetitive nature of baking, and interested in food and food ways.

No prior experience necessary, but food service experience is a plus.

When you work with food, you get to know the seasons, and produce so intimately. You become hyper aware of the amount of work that goes into growing, sourcing and creating food for your community.

Working seasonally, locally, regionally whenever possible is an incredibly important aspect of Wild’s menu. Over the years we have gotten to know our local farmers and producers, we have enjoyed the fruits of their labor. The hard work that goes into producing and farming is no joke, and we are forever grateful for what they do.

As we have grown, it’s been harder for us to source the amount of produce or the exact varieties we are looking for. In the last few years we have been slowly expanding our home garden to help supply our needs!

We grow most of the plants from seed, and what we do not grow from seed, we source from our local nurseries and farmers. This year we were able to grow over 40 tomato plants, and an incredible amount of basil. We concentrated on experimenting with pepper yields and expanding our flowers as well. Every year we add a few more raspberry bushes and have two hearty hedge rows happily growing.

We have made hundreds of tomato pastries, whizzed up tomato butter, made quarts and quarts of pesto (for an upcoming pastry 👀), supplied flowers for the bakery, cooked down quarts of raspberry jam, and even brought in our eggs to help supplement our ever growing egg use.

We have every intention of still working with our incredible farmers, but feel grateful to be able to continue to provide seasonal pastries and goods with the a little extra help from our garden! ❤️🌱
