“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.”
✨ And a new season is here. ✨
The Buttercream Mill is saying goodbye.
Many of you know my story, but for those who don’t—my baking journey began five years ago when a little boy showed up on our front porch. Foster care is not for the faint of heart, but for our family, it brought us the happiest, sweetest boy forever… and it sparked a calling that would change our lives.
In 2021, with very little baking experience beyond my kids’ birthday cakes, I started Bakeroos. That first year opened my eyes to a heartbreaking reality: there are children right here in Knoxville who have never received a birthday cake. Some even enter foster care on their birthday. I’ve received calls from caseworkers saying, “A child just entered the system—and today is their birthday. Can I get a cake made?” Just this year, Bakeroos has blessed over 250 children with the gift of a homemade custom birthday cake.
Yet, the Lord began to give me a bigger vision. What if Knoxville had a bakery that provided free custom cakes to vulnerable children? What if it was also a place that provided meaningful jobs for underprivileged women—a trauma-informed space for women who have experienced homelessness, trafficking, abuse, or incarceration? A place to learn a skill, build life skills, earn a paycheck, and experience the healing power of baking. A bakery that gives hope in 2 ways--through the process of baking AND through the end-product of baking!!!
It’s time.
While I can’t share all the details just yet, one thing I can promise is this: my baking isn’t going anywhere. If you want to follow along on this next chapter, I invite you to follow the Bakeroos social media page. Things will move slowly—but I know from experience that “God can do exceedingly abundantly more than all we can ask or imagine.” (Ephesians 3:20)
Thank you, friends, for supporting The Buttercream Mill over the last two years. Thank you for trusting me with your celebrations, cheering this business on, and allowing me to grow something truly special. I am beyond grateful for each and every one of you.
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. 💛
