Growing up, Gloria always looked forward to the delicious peanut brittle her mother made each and every Christmas season. In later years, Gloria continued to make this same peanut brittle for family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Everyone always raved about this candy. It wasn’t until 2005, when she and her husband, Wayne, retired and relocated from Southern California to Klamath Falls, Oregon when Gloria, once again, cooked up a batch of peanut brittle, shared it with friends and was encouraged to market it. After many months of urging by one particular friend, Wayne and Gloria Johnson began offering ‘samples’ to, literally, everyone they met. It was obvious by the comments that this peanut brittle was destined to be a success! The biggest dilemma for the Johnson’s was what to name this delicious treat. Although the original recipe came from Gloria’s mother, she always felt a special closeness to her mother’s sister, her Auntie Florence. Sadly, Auntie Florence passed away in 2001 but she remains close to Gloria through all the wonderful memories they shared. At Wayne’s suggestion to pay tribute to a woman who gave so much to everyone she ever met, it was decided to name this candy Auntie Flo’s Old Fashioned Peanut Brittle. Without a doubt, Flo is smiling upon us right now…
