What you don’t see behind the scenes are the conversations, the friendships, and the relationships that grow between local businesses.

Sometimes the people you meet through your business become so much more than clients, vendors, or fellow business owners. They become friends. ❤️

Shortly before Flavors, my florist and friend Anabel experienced a personal loss in her family. When she reached out, there was no question in my mind about what I was going to do.

I simply told her, “I got you. Don’t worry about the food.”

And that’s exactly what I did.

Flavors wrapped up Friday, and I was already back in the kitchen Saturday, Sunday, and Monday preparing food for her brother’s services on Tuesday.

There were sandwiches, charcuterie, desserts, cookies, macarons, brownies, and of course, a cake. But honestly, this wasn’t about the food.

It was about showing up.

This is one of the things I love most about being part of a local business community. We celebrate each other’s wins, support each other’s businesses, build friendships, and when life gets heavy, we show up for each other.

Anabel, I’m so sorry for your loss. It was an honor to be able to take one small thing off your shoulders during such a difficult time. ❤️ And good food always helps the soul feel a little less sad.

Business is about so much more than what happens behind the counter. Sometimes it’s about the people standing beside you.
