The girls and our oxen are pastured way at the back of the farm until they need to come up for a drink. Mid-October and we haven't had a killing frost yet.
It is supposed to storm Friday,
and the Kingston Farmers Market has already cancelled. In other news, we are extremely short handed at the farm as Randy and our daughter have made a quick trip to Texas to move his mother back here. We don't expect them back until after the weekend.
As always, the best way to put in orders and such is through email to the farm...

Life happened-and the whole Kingston Farmer's Market is closed tonight. They will be back open each Friday in October closing the season out at halloween.
We are waiting on our new crop grains to be cleaned so a few shortages there. The bakery is humming this morning and there will be spelt bread, pancake mix and cookies on the market tables.
Long overdue upgrades are being made to our milking system. 123-year-old concrete was busted out, an area reshaped and 6 yards of new concrete was poured on Thursday. Sometime next week we'll start putting in concrete block walls.

Finally! After 2 weeks in the body shop we just got our market van back. Within two weeks, we had two tire blowouts on the passenger side taking out the windshield washer reservoir, a foglight, the side mirror, damaging the running board, denting along the side and tearing up the back bumper. Over $5,000 total damage.
The front tire basically exploded-something we didn't know was possible. We replaced that tire. Next, the entire tread flew off the rear tire. Seeing a pattern, we replaced all four tires.
They gave her a good bath and she's ready to come to Tuesday market.

Yes, we went camping for 4 days in Canada. No hookups/cell phone/wifi....
48 degrees at night. We lived-because of our -20f REI sleeping bags and our VW Bus.
Came home to a major waterline break. Pretty serious with 70 thirsty cattle. Good thing we can fix stuff.

Good news-the cookies are back! Our cookie lady and her helper are nearly back to normal now. She will be back at the Kingston Farmers Market this Friday. 🍪🍪🍪

Yes, it's true-we do have a hole in our barn wall. Nothing this dramatic, we needed room to do some improvements to our milking set-up. Just a little peek through the hole.
Also, our baker is taking a little time off so no bread this week. Our cookie baker is off this week too...still healing after her shoulder surgery, her helper is on sick leave and her husband fell and cracked his ribs. Ouch!
