I hope everybody had an amazing holiday with their loved ones! We set many places both at our table and in our hearts for those that could and could not be with us this year. We kept some traditions alive, created some new ones and spent a lot of time just being lazy and watching tv with the kids!! But we were also busy, busy, busy writing new recipes!!

Bake Shop Betty’s will be attending the 3rd Annual Traverse City Bourbon Fest and we have some amazing things we are working on for that!! We have 3 brand new cocktail infusion kits coming out for that as well as some new bitters that should be ready when I get home! And once we get those all sorted out…..we are going to do another give away!! Sooooo…..questions:
1. What is your favorite bourbon cocktail.
2. Would you rather win a gift basket full of random stuff I pick or a gift card amount to pick your own stuff for your basket? I gotta figure out to do a poll on this thing! Answer the cocktail question though! 😂 Have a Safe and Happy New Year everyone!

I just wanted to let everyone know that Bake Shop Betty’s will be closed from 12/24-12/26. Any orders placed online will not be processed until 12/27. I will be unavailable for local delivery, but hubby will be here…..

I am flying to Florida to be with my babies until the 30th. John Cole will be available if you need to do a meet up. With all those new infusion jars, your NYE is going to be epic!! I will get them all on the website so you can order or you can always message me!

Just place the online order and click local delivery and I will set up the place and time. Local meet ups are in Traverse City, Northland in Kingsley and Cadillac pavilion.

Hello everyone!!

I just wanted to let yall know I will be taking a holiday break to visit my grandbabies in Florida and do some restock down there! If you need something and are local, hubby can meet up somewhere local. I will be back in time for you to stock up on all our craft cocktail things so don’t worry…..I got you covered there!! I have no idea what to get so and so for Christmas!!

Come see us peeps!! We even got the gift wrapping part done! Tons of stocking stuffers you won’t find anywhere else! We have bitters, Shrubs, Cocotail infusion kits, flavor infused sugars, lots of drink mixes and we even brought the last of our lavender lemonade…..once they are gone, they are gone! Today is our last market of the year!

Alrighty then……where are my rum people????

Have I got a treat for you!! Allow me to introduce you to Forbidden Fruit!!

We sliced up some tart Granny Smith apples and dehydrated them slowly for 9 hours so they are just the right amount of dry to let the rum pull all the apple flavor from them….we added some Meyer lemons, dropped in some cloves, some Timor Leste vanilla beans, and a couple of cinnamon sticks then of course to sweeten up the pot a bit, some fun shaped Christmas Vanilla Bean Sugar Cubes!

The longer this one sits, the better it will taste….think apple pie moonshine (but without the shine because yep, you guessed it….the fine State of Michigan frowns upon alcohol sales)…..so…..you just gotta add the rum…..our fan fav is Kraken Gold Spiced rum, but we aren’t going to say you can’t use your favorite!!

For our zero proof friends…..same as before….add hot water….allow it to cool and seep at least 8 hours and overnight if possible. Then add to your favorite mocktail mix and enjoy!

Where can you get this fabulous Forbidden Fruit? Why at The Grand Traverse Mall of course….tomorrow!!!! Tomorrow is Friday….we will be there until 9 pm!! Come early because I only have 9 of these left!!

Ok last one……for today……

Pretend you are closing your eyes (you can’t keep reading if ya close them for real!!)…..now imagine it’s June and the weather is beautiful and you are sitting with your favorite human (or fur-uman) nestled on a soft blanket on the beach……the sun is setting and man this is just Pure Michigan at its finest!!Youre feeling all kinds of loved as the sun paints the sky in all of its splendid glory as you watch it slip into the horizon, sweet summer beverage going down smooth…….what is in your glass?

Allow me to introduce Bougie Sunset!!

We took fresh Cranberries and Cara Cara Oranges and sprinkled them with organic cane sugar to pull out all the naturally tart cranberry juice and naturally sweet orange juice until we got just the right tang….then we added some Champange Vinegar with the mother (there is that healthy again) and we waited….and waited…..and waited some more!!! After 2 very long months, we dropped some fresh rosemary sprigs into the mix to give it just the right amount of savory with the earthy, woodsy flavor that lends hints of pepper, lemon and mint.

This would be fantastic as a cocktail made with vodka or gin, added to seltzer or used for a glaze for fish orGrand Traverse Mallen. You can also use it in salad dressing!

Where can you get this you ask? Yes, at the Grand Traverse Mall…..when? Friday folks…..only on Friday! Don’t let your holiday menu be without this fabulous addition!!

There is nothing better than the timeless classic of an old fashioned!!

We dehydrated some cherries, added some cloves, put a fun little spin on the sugar part though and added some Christmas shaped vanilla sugar cubes, some cinnamon sticks, Cara Cara orange slices and just to make it all legit, we added 2 dashes of our very own Baangostura bitters to each sugar cube! Just add your favorite bourbon, let it sit for as long as you can stand (8 hours at least) and enjoy! If you want to be super fancy, you can rim the glass in some of our vanilla sugar and use a culinary torch to caramelized the sugar, just make sure you have a good bourbon glass so it doesn’t break!

To all our zero proof friends, I was not able to make this one zero-proof with the addition of the bitters. If you would like a true zero proof jar, please message me and I can custom make them without the bitters.

And for our next act……

Where are all my vodka loving peeps?? Three of my favorite things…..coffee, chocolate and vodka…..what could possibly be any better when you combine all 3??

Oh what have we done! We started out with some espresso sugar cubes in our cute little snowflake shapes. Then we added in some roasted espresso beans, some Tanzania Cacao Nibs, and because who does love freaking chocolate……we added some grown raw organic cacao powder just for fun! Of course vanilla makes just about everything better, even chocolate, so we toasted up some Timor Leste (see map) vanilla beans and dropped two of those beautiful things in there and to top it off, we added a couple of cute little cinnamon sticks! You just fill the jar with your favorite vodka (again, the State of Michigan frowns upon us providing it and I wouldn’t fair well in prison), pop it in the fridge for at least 8 hours (plenty of time to primp for your party) and then…….prepare to amaze your friends and family!!

Want to really show off? Pop your martini glasses in the freezer until they are all frosty, grab a tin of our espresso sugar, rim the glasses then pour into your chilled glass, add some heavy whipping cream (or nondairy option if you must) and garnish with the INCLUDED chocolate covered espresso beans!! WHATTTT???? Zoom in on the jar….its there!!

Of note, Bake Shop Betty’s did NOT make the chocolate covered espresso beans. We have included a card with the ingredients.

For our zero proof friends…..you will want to add hot water in place of vodka and leave out til cool, then chill or use a shaker with ice to pour. Follow the rest of the same delicious steps for garnishing and looking like the mocktail mixologist that you are!!

Alright boys and girls…..time for one more reveal of what’s to come on Friday!!! Where are we going to go? Grand Traverse Mall that’s right!!! Because guess what else you can get your hands on?

Where are my gin people? We sliced up a bunch of organic fruit…..Cara Cara oranges, tangerines, limes, and lemons and dehydrated them to perfection! Then we toasted up some rosemary sprigs and made some cute little lime sugar cubes shaped like snow flakes!! Dropped it into a sweet little mason jar….you add your own gin (Sorry the State of Michigan won’t let me provide it), shake, refrigerate for a couple of days and you got yourself what we call a Gin Torrent…..because the torrential flavor explosion you are going to experience is amazing!!!

Grab a tin of lime sugar to rim the glasses, garnish with some of the fruit inside and your gin loving peeps will be happy as a clam with this herbed citrus infusion! Best part…..you can refill the jar after your Christmas cocktails, pop it back in the fridge and have another batch all brewed and ready for that epic New Year’s Eve party!!

This will also work with vodka and for all our zero proof friends….just add half a jar of hot water, let it seep for about 15-20 minutes and then use to flavor your favorite seltzer!

I told y’all I wasn’t playing! The holidays are upon us and I wanted to turn out a few things that will dial it up a notch!!!

Sooooo…..introducing Smirking Scorpion! It’s a healthier option of indulging in your favorite cocktail or mocktails!! We took mango, pineapple, peaches and strawberries and sprinkled it down with some organic cane sugar to pull all the juice out of the fruit! We added some locally grown Thai Basil to slowly infuse some of that savory, spicy flavor into the sweet tropical juice.

Then we hunted down some organic raw unfiltered white wine vinegar with the mother (see I told you it was healthy) and added just enough to give it some tang and then we waited…..and waited and then we added a couple Habanero peppers, waited 48 hours more, just to give it a tiny finishing spice!

What can you do with this amazing concoction? I am glad you asked!!!
Add some rum and make it a Mai Tai….add some seltzer water and give it a tropical burst! If you just want the benefits of the vinegar…..pour yourself a spoonful because this stuff is absolutely delicious!! I kept some for myself because the syrupy goodness tastes like a sweet mai tai! Christmas and New Year’s Eve are coming!! Come get your bottle Friday at the Grand Traverse Mall!

Each bottle makes between 8-16 cocktails/mocktails using 1/2-1 oz per drink.

Super scored some amazing fruit on my trip downstate…..some Pineberries (looks like white strawberries, but tastes sort of like a cross between a pineapple and a strawberry), white dragonfruit, red dragonfruit, and some rambutan (tastes sort of like a super mellow grape)……mixed it all together with some vanilla beans from Timor Lester (an island above Australia) and some homemade almond extract……going to let that all meld together before I add the final ingredient and OMG peeps…….just you wait for this one!!!

I also have a big pot of loaded potato soup simmering on the stove too!! It smells yummy in here!!
