This morning on junction highway as we were driving to deliver bread, laela said, “Mommy, You know what I miss?”
I asked, “What do you miss, baby?”
And she quietly said, “I miss everyone who got lost in the flood.”
My heart broke a little.
Children have such a beautiful way of reminding us what really matters. While we see the destruction, the cleanup, the repairs and everything that still needs to be done, she sees the people. She remembers the lives that were here and the people who never got to go home.
I hope we never stop remembering them either.
Our town is rebuilding, the river is being cleaned, and little by little life is moving forward—but there are families who will never be the same.
Today, my little girl reminded me that rebuilding isn’t just about fixing roads, homes and rivers.
It’s also about remembering the people we lost. ❤️
