Two cake orders this weekend, and my feet can't take anymore. I honestly don't know if I can do a weekend like that again. Ugh! But the cake was worth it....my annual Christmas Tea cake order. I was very happy with the way it turned out. Everything is edible! Fondant covered, accented with edible lace and gumpaste flowers.

So I can't believe I totally forgot to post this on my business page! (My summer is crazy busy with prepping for our local county fair).

So to catch you up....I entered the Ohio State Fair decorated cake competition this year with the "Leg Lamp" cake. After living and learning before, the lamp shade itself only took me about 8 hours to do (Lol)....as the summer humidity is definitely not a friend. But the best part was winning Best of Show and the People's Choice award (which was a first ever for me)! It was a true honor, especially with the excellent caliber of talent I was up against. And again, people didn't think it was all edible. (Ask the helpers....they were able to see that it was while I was deconstructing it after the show. :)). And the judges comment card asked ....is the plastic backing still attached to the sugar sheets? The answer is...NO! I wish it was because it would make things 100x easier. ;).

But this made my year! I don't know if I would want to do it all again though. And thank you to all who voted for it at the fair.

Had the honor of recently making a garden themed, 80th birthday cake. Keeping a masculine inspiration in mind (was a birthday for a friend's dad), we decided to incorporate blue, green and gold accents. Nothing better to bring in the green hues than with edible moss.... and was even a new technique I tried. The cake was buttercream frosted with fondant and rice paper weathered wood, a fondant shovel, edible moss, 24k gold flakes and silk flowers.
