We serve 12 ice cream flavors daily at the shop, with our top four available every day: Vanilla Bean, Salted Caramel, Classic Chocolate and Lemon Olive Oil. reate them just for you and your special event. You bring us your ideas and we design, bake and build the cake of your dreams, with your choice of flavors of course! The final price depends on how many people you need to serve and how much detail your design of choice includes. Custom cakes and wedding cakes can be either covered in buttercream or fondant, whichever you prefer. In addition to our ice creams and cakes, we’re baking up other sweet treat favorites like macaroons, cupcakes, tarts, cookies, ice cream sandwiches and more.

Thanks to all who let me know held on to the #2 spot again this summer, our 9th year in business.

Our ice cream is scratch made from all natural, organic and local ingredients, along with all our baked goods, toppings, ice cream cakes and ice cream sandwiches.

This is an enormous undertaking and I am grateful every day to have **just** enough staff to keep the doors open and the kitchen running.

And i am beyond grateful for all my absolutely stellar fans who leave wonderful reviews and share the shop with friends, say hi to me at the counter and come in again and again for pints and scoops.

I've decided to try something new this winter — the shop will be on winter break from November 28 through March 3.

We will resume our normal hours (Wednesdays through Sundays 11am to 10pm) starting Saturday March 4.

E-gift cards will still be available for purchase on the website during the break.

We'll be scooping cones, packing pints and baking cookies right up until our winter break, so stop by to say hi and stock up for fall!

Updated Hours for Winter

Thank you so much for an amazing summer! I appreciate you all so very much for reading these e-mails and coming through week after week to grab a pint of my new flavors.

I also appreciate the kind words of support from everyone as I struggled this year to find enough staff and tried my best to navigate some extremely tricky supply chain issues (like the great guava shortage of August or the strawberry panic in May).

It's been very challenging to keep my small business running these last few year so I've decided to try something new this winter.

The shop will be on winter break from November 28 through March 3.

We will resume our normal hours (Wednesdays through Sundays 11am to 10pm) starting Saturday March 4.

E-gift cards will still be available for purchase on the website during the break.

We'll be scooping cones, packing pints and baking cookies right up until our winter break, so stop by to say hi and stock up for fall! And please do follow us on instagram to see what flavors we're dreaming up for 2023.

Hi there! My name is Emma and I am the chef and owner of Milk Sugar Love Creamery and Bakeshop.

I have been handcrafting ice cream and sweets from all natural, organic and local ingredients for 8 years now in Hamilton Park Jersey City.

We've been named one of the top three ice creams in the state of New Jersey and I enjoy making flavors based on what I love to eat and places I've traveled and also in collaboration with other small business owners in Jersey City.

I am so grateful for all the support from my community---it's why I've been able to be in business so long (also because Malted Cookie is so delicious!!!!).

And I need your help.

I have been trying to restaff my kitchen for over a year now. I am looking for a baker and an ice cream assistant (please see my stories for details!!)

August 5: Creamsicle
One of my favorite old time ice cream pop flavors, recreated as a Sweet Cream ice cream with a Mandarin sorbet swirl---light and refreshing for the dog days of summer. Contains Milk.

August 12: Brown Sugar Oatmeal
Brown Sugar ice cream with something new for us---oatmeal cookie dough pieces (made with gluten free oats!). Contains Milk (and raisins---I SWEAR they are delicious in this!!).

August 19: Blackberry Ripple

Well hey there, looks like according to we're still the second best ice cream in !

The photo they pulled is from year 1 of the business and gosh so much has changed since then but also so much has stayed the same.

Still sourcing fresh, local ingredients. Still working with local artisans and business owners for awesome collab flavors. Still using simple ingredients to make stunningly delicious ice cream and baked goods from scratch.

And even though the article didn't mention any of this, it's the heart of my business-----crafting from scratch with simple, high quality ingredients.

Key Lime Pie in Scoops and Pints

So....I wasn't able to secure the strawberries I needed to make Summer Strawberry, the flavor slated to release today.

Instead I made Key Lime Pie --- Key Lime ice cream with Key Lime ripple and salted graham crumb in every bite. It felt like a good pick for a holiday weekend.

PLUS as an apology for the last minute switch, we ran a batch of Carrot Cake pints just for our e-mail subscribers! Cream Cheese ice cream with our own raisin, coconut and cinnamon filled Carrot Cake.

We're open 11am to 10pm all weekend and on the 4th so you can celebrate with scoops and pints.

It's my birthday today!

And in case you didn't know, opening day for the Hamilton Park store front was also this day, eight years ago.

I've been working impossible hours under impossible circumstances the last 2 1/2 years. I am in burn out. So I decided to do two things I've never done before----take time off during our summer season and ride my motorcycle across the United States.

So far I've ridden 2800 miles and visited 8 states. And I am spending my birthday at the Grand Canyon.

It's no easy thing to leave for this long just as we start to get busy for the summer. So I'm sending a special thank you to all my customers and fans for your support!

Milk Sugar Love is the smallest of small businesses and I can't do what I do without you! When you wave and say hi to me as I'm cooking in the kitchen, or post about the shop on social media, or introduce a friend to my ice cream or leave a review online it helps my business and means the world to me!

Lastly, a huge shout out to Marcia, Andy and Cara who are holding it down while I'm on the road 💖

I cut all our specialty sandwiches, like the Babka ice cream sandwich, by hand. It's no easy task to slice through two layers of Babka and a thick layer of Hazelnut Chip ice cream.

A sharp, strong knife really matters.

In my kitchen at Milk Sugar Love, I use a for these kinds of precision tasks.

Just parked 5 blocks away to walk to your Palisade spot ready to buy 3 pints but it was closed! 🥵
The ice cream is great but I can really say the same about their customer service. The ladies behind the desk would probably be better off selling make up or some vein product at the mall.
Wish you guys had a location in Toledo, OH. I love ice cream. We don't have enough shops like this here.

Support local artists as we raise funds to realize a fascinating theater production, "Prologue", coming this September at the Jersey City Theater Center

"Prologue" is a mixed-media performance created as a composition of moments – snapshots into the life and thought of French philosopher, activist, and mystic, Simone Weil (1909 – 1943).

Donations are tax-deductible, and can also get you tickets to the performance and other perks. Most importantly, you will be supporting local artists (playwright, director, and visual artists in the project are all Van Vorst neighbors!)
