Moms are the sunshine for the house. This bright, beautiful and special cake and the the first one to go out from my kitchen this morning is for my bestie’s mom who has travelled all the way from india to be with her for the very first time on this day! My baking history has a very humble beginning-I used to be that high school friend who would bake cakes for all her friend’s birthdays. Honestly I had no idea what magic I was adding :) I was just relishing all the attention and appreciation for being their best baker friend.

I very much enjoyed my early years of baking in the no frills 90’s when a simple chocolate or black forest cake gave immense pleasure (I wonder if it this was the time which honed me to focus on taste first).

Long story short, after moving to USA and having all the time to explore the country, culture and DESSERTS (Yayyyy). I was utterly amazed and ecstatic like a small kid when I got to experience the taste and craftsmanship of so many amazing bakes out here. My motivation to experiment and create new bakes started to grow again.

But my desi dil still craves for the authentic Indian mithai (sweets) over any cake, pastry and that’s when the idea of fusion bakes originated. Store bought sweets are either too much sugar for me or they just don’t taste like what I grew up eating. I started incorporating the same taste in my bakes.

And here I am, with much love and encouragement from some super awesome friends, gradually shaping this passion into business.

Baking, my passion, is outlet for my creativity, and a way to spread love and cheer in other’s life.

Healthy tea cake baked using Jowar flour aka sorghum, milo. Grain from the millet family, is gluten free, full of iron, high protein, and packed with vitamins and nutrients.
This sponge is moist, filling, delicious and has a good portion of nuts needed for our daily diet. ( almonds, pistachios, cashews, pumpkin seeds, cranberries)
All in all it’s a guilt free, healthy and tasty mid meal snack for adults and kids.

Gulabjamun, most beloved Indian sweet. Rich, smooth fried balls made out of milk solids, dunked in an aromatic cardamom and saffron sugar syrup. My version of this yumminess is a rich milky sponge flavored with cardamom, saffron, filled and frosted with fresh cream and jamuns, topped with more jamuns, pistachios and dusted with saffron and gold dust. 😍

This is one drink which doesn’t follow any rules of time, location, emotion. It can be enjoyed anytime and everytime.
