He remembers spending every weekend with her throughout his childhood. As she would go into the kitchen to bake, he would follow her in, watch and learn. Whether it was cookies, cakes, pies, or a number of assorted baked treats, she prepared them with care as Michael's watchful eyes absorbed every detail. Over time, Michael became a great resource for baking within his family. You see, Rudella didn't always write down her recipes in a way which made them easy to pass along. "Add enough of this," "Bake it until it's done," and similar phrases were a part of her conversations about anything she made. So, whenever someone had a problem with a baking project not working out right, Michael became one of the first phone calls. His years of observation at her side would be one of the necessary links to the family's baking history. These experiences are the foundation of Michael's love of baking. It brings sweet memories of joy, laughter and weekend family fun each time he makes one of Rudella's cherished recipes. We hope you enjoy eating them as much as Michael enjoys making them.
