I just want to take a moment to acknowledge the blessing God has given me by being able to own and operate Dunkers by Matt the past 7+ years. It certainly hasn’t been easy, but I had the chance to live out a dream of mine and be successful at it! The timing is right for me to walk away and let God lead me to my next adventure and to get to spend time with my amazing family!
I had a great team at the end. Brooke Jones came in and learned how to help make donuts quickly and was such a cheerful worker. Julie Bentz was our tried-and-true weekend warrior that helped make Saturday orders possible (and she could have run the kitchen by herself if she wanted to). Crystal Carter was the smile that greeted everyone at the counter every morning. Todd Bunkers was a faithful cheerleader to our crew and provided plenty of comic relief. And my delivery drivers, Dan Cunningham and Steve Harms, driving in the middle of the night no matter the weather or the animals.
I am thankful to all the businesses that brought my donuts into their stores to sell. I appreciate the faith they had in me to provide them with a quality product.
I am thankful for the customers that have stuck by me through these years and shared how much they enjoyed eating my treats. I had a great time making specialty items like 12” donuts for birthdays, heart donuts for Valentine’s Day, and shamrock donuts for St. Patrick’s Day. And making donuts and donut holes for weddings and graduations, how awesome to be trusted for your special occasions.
There are special people that I want to acknowledge:
♥️My dad, Ron, for support in unnumberable ways, including being my fill in driver.
♥️My son, Evan, designed the Dunkers by Matt logo.
♥️Rachel, Evan’s wife, and our four (soon to be five) grandchildren for being willing to come to Jefferson for numerous visits because it was difficult for us to make the 3-hour drive to go to them.
♥️Kara and Ryan, my daughter and son-in-law for the many, many supply runs they made and their extra hands when I had huge orders, especially during fall festival season!
♥️My children still at home, Amie, Joel, & Rene’, for learning and doing the filling & frosting of the donuts every night. Joel and Amie for working at the counter a few mornings a week.
♥️Lisa, my loving and supporting wife, put in many hours of bookkeeping, billing, boxing donuts to go out for delivery, and whatever else I might have needed.
There are many more things I could mention about each one. As you can tell this was truly a family business. These are the ones that stuck with me through the good and bad times. I am going to enjoy spending time and making memories with each one but mostly reconnecting with my wife and spending time with her. ♥️
