First order of business was getting 200 fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies made for our linemen! 🍪❤️

Because without these hardworking men and women, we wouldn’t be able to get a single order out the door!

I hope the EREC crews enjoy a little something sweet after another long, exhausting day. ❤️

We are so incredibly thankful for the countless hours they’ve spent working to get power restored to our communities. Their hard work, dedication, and sacrifices do not go unnoticed!

It’s just cookies, but it’s our little way of saying THANK YOU for everything you’re doing for all of us! ❤️⚡🍪

We are extremely lucky. Luckier than most, and I know that. But unfortunately, we did lose quite a bit in this storm. 💔

Our cart is on the ground, and I’m honestly doubtful that it can be saved. But the most disheartening part is that our shop lost part of its roof.

I’m really at a loss right now. I don’t know what we’re going to do to get everything fixed. With us working toward opening the bakery, the last thing I wanted was to sink more money into our current setup. And now, here we are. I honestly just want to sit down and cry.

As far as the new bakery goes, I haven’t heard anything from the people we are planning to rent from. However, I did see that the building they just finished on the other side of our future bakery was completely torn through by the storm. I can only assume that repairing that building will take priority, which could push our bakery opening back even further.

I don’t know. There’s just so much uncertainty right now, and it’s overwhelming.

But I do want y’all to know that I plan to keep orders rolling however I can. Even if that means moving everything back into my home kitchen and just making it work for the time being. I’ve worked too hard to get where I am to just stop now.

With all that being said, I know we are blessed. We had quite a bit of damage, much more than what I’m sharing here, but our home is still standing. Our family is safe. And that is more than I can say for so many others right now.

I know there are families who have lost everything. Their homes, their belongings, things they’ve worked their entire lives for. And my heart absolutely breaks for them.

It’s okay to be thankful and still be heartbroken over what you’ve lost. And right now, I’m feeling a whole lot of both.

Please, please stay safe, y’all. I truly hope everyone made it through this storm without injury. Hug your people a little tighter today.

BIG things are coming. 🤍

We currently have a projected timeline of about 4–5 months for renovations on the building we’ve decided to move forward with, assuming inspections and everything else go as planned!

Once renovations are complete, we’ll officially be rebranding.

I went back and forth on the name A LOT, but I just couldn’t let go of Skeff. Y’all have known me as Cakes by Skeff for years, and that name has become such a big part of what I’ve built.

So… say hello to Skeff & Co. Bakehouse. 🥹✨

The “& Co.” part is going to be a small boutique-style gift area inside the bakery! Not a clothing boutique — although we may have a few cute shirts here and there — but more of a place for small, giftable items.

Think:
You run in to grab cupcakes for someone’s birthday… and you can grab their gift while you’re there too. 🎁🧁

Birthday gifts, teacher gifts, little happies, boyfriend/girlfriend gifts, gifts for the kiddos, last-minute “I totally didn’t forget your birthday” gifts 😂 — that kind of thing!

And THIS is where I need y’all’s help because apparently I am not cool enough to know what’s cool anymore. 😂
