Hey y’all! 💛 I know I’ve been a little quiet and on a break from baking lately.

We’ve been BUSY over here with all the homestead things, getting everything situated with our chickens and quail 🐓🐣 plus dealing with a few colds and sickness in the house. Between all of that, I decided to give myself a little break from baking and just focus on home and family for a bit.

✨✨ BUT THE WAIT IS ALMOST OVER! MORNING MERCIES BAKEHOUSE IS COMING BACK! ✨✨

💛 SALES OFFICIALLY RESUME THE SECOND WEEK OF OCTOBER! 💛

And we’re kicking things back off with some Puerto Rican favorites 🇵🇷

Okay but WHY is this so accurate 😂🐔

“I’ll just go check on the chickens real quick…” and somehow 5 minutes turns into 30 because somebody needs fresh water, somebody kicked bedding everywhere, somebody is yelling for absolutely no reason, and then of course I have to stand there and watch them be cute. 😂

Chicken math is real… but apparently so is chicken time. 🤎🐓

Who else goes outside “for five minutes” and disappears into the coop? 😂👇

Morning Mercies is entering a new season. 💛

For a while now, I’ve felt God gently steering me toward something more intentional, something that brings me back to my roots and reminds me why I fell in love with food in the first place.

Some of my strongest memories of Puerto Rico are tied to food. The smell of fresh bread coming from the panadería, the pastries behind the glass, the flavors I grew up around, and the simple foods that immediately make a place feel like home. 🇵🇷

The more I’ve thought and prayed about the future of Morning Mercies, the more I’ve realized that I don’t just want to bake good food. I want to create recipes that mean something. Recipes that connect me to where I come from, that I can one day pass down to my children, and that allow me to share a piece of my culture with the community that has supported this little bakery.

Because of that, I’m rebuilding the Morning Mercies menu around Puerto Rican breads, pastries, and sweets, taking inspiration from the panaderías and flavors I remember while developing recipes that can become part of our own family story.

For now, Morning Mercies will be market only while I take the time to develop, test, and perfect this new menu. I don’t want to rush something that means this much to me.

Most of the old menu will be saying goodbye, but there is one recipe that will always have a place here: Dad’s Favorite Oatmeal Cream Pie. That one carries a story of its own, and it’s staying. 🤎

I’m incredibly excited about where God is leading Morning Mercies and about getting to share a little piece of Puerto Rico and a little piece of my family with all of you.

Mercies are new every morning, and apparently sometimes menus are too. 💛🇵🇷

Today is all about working behind the scenes: updating ingredient inventory, weighing everything that’s already open, entering recipes, checking product costs, and making sure the business side of Morning Mercies Bakehouse stays organized.

It may not be as exciting as baking, but getting everything set up correctly now will make life so much easier later! ☀️🧈

Unfortunately, Morning Mercies Bakehouse will not be attending the Always Fun Market at Wolf Ranch this Sunday, September 6. 🤍

COVID has made its way into our household, and both my husband and son have tested positive. While I am not sick, I’ve decided it’s best to stay home with my family and not risk exposing anyone else.

I’m so disappointed to miss this market because I was really looking forward to seeing everyone, but taking care of my family and keeping others safe has to come first.

Thank you so much for understanding and for continuing to support Morning Mercies Bakehouse. 🤎 I hope to see everyone at the next market!

Morning Mercies Bakehouse will be at the Always Fun Markets at Wolf Ranch with a fresh lineup of goodies, and I can’t wait to see everyone there! 🤎

Everything will be made fresh in small batches, so quantities will be limited!

This time around, I won’t be accepting preorders for the market. Everything will be available first come, first served, so come by early if you have your eye on something. 💛

When I’m not in the kitchen covered in flour and butter, you can probably find me outside checking on these girls, working on another DIY chicken project, or dreaming up what we’re adding to our little homestead next. 😂🤎

Morning Mercies has always been about more than baked goods. It’s about creating something with my hands, caring for my family, and finding joy in the simple things God has given us.

And now that little part of our life has its own home. 🌱
