😞 A Disappointing Morning Searching for Gluten-Free Options in Panama City, Fl. Visit Panama City Beach.

Yesterday morning, we set out hoping to find a local bakery where we could enjoy some gluten-free baked goods. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing—and it highlighted something I think bakeries and restaurants need to understand: people in the gluten-free community depend on accurate information and proper food handling.

🥐 Andy's Flour Power Cafe & Bakery
Their online information indicated they offered gluten-free bread, so we made the trip specifically because of that. Sadly, we were told they had no gluten-free baked goods available and haven’t offered them in quite some time.

I do appreciate that the manager came outside after us to apologize. I explained that their online information really needs to be updated. Those of us looking for gluten-free food depend on online listings when deciding where it is safe—or even worthwhile—to eat.

🧁 The Pour
They did have gluten-free muffin options; however, they were stored open alongside the regular baked goods. For someone with celiac disease or who must strictly avoid gluten, cross-contact is a serious concern.

🍩 Thomas Donut & Snack Shop
They told us gluten-free donuts wouldn’t be available until next week. We were disappointed not to get to try them, but thankfully, we were able to get some gluten-free bagels.

As the owner of a celiac-safe, totally gluten-free cottage bakery, experiences like this remind me why I work so hard to provide safe and delicious options for my customers.

Panama City bakeries, please do better for your gluten-free customers. Gluten-free shouldn’t simply be something listed online or placed beside traditional baked goods without consideration for cross-contact. For many people, it isn’t a preference—it’s a necessity.

Accurate information, proper handling, and genuinely safe options make a huge difference to the gluten-free community. 💛

⚠️ A NOTE FROM NANA ABOUT CURRENT PRODUCT RECALLS ⚠️

With the recent product recalls in the news, I want my customers to know that I am watching these recalls very closely.

At this time, none of the gluten-free products or ingredients I use at Nana’s Cookies & More have been included in the recalls.

As a celiac-safe, 100% gluten-free cottage bakery, I take the ingredients that go into my kitchen very seriously. ❤️ I research the products and ingredients I use to make sure they are gluten-free and appropriate for my celiac-safe kitchen—and I continue to monitor them for changes, recalls, or updated allergen information.

Ingredient safety isn’t something I check once and forget about. I want my customers to feel confident about what goes into the treats, breads, cakes, and other goodies I make for you.

If you ever have ANY questions about the gluten-free products or ingredients I use, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am always happy to answer your questions and provide additional information.

🎂 A Little Cake Catch-Up from Nana’s! 🎂

I’m a little behind on sharing some of my cake creations from the past few months! With James’s health issues beginning in July, life got a little hectic and posting on social media definitely took a back seat. ❤️

But that doesn’t mean Nana’s kitchen hasn’t been busy! 👩‍🍳💕 Here are just a few of the gluten-free cakes that have gone out the door recently for birthdays, weddings, celebrations, and other special occasions.

🎉 And Nana even made her own birthday cake this year! A delicious Gluten-Free Almond Joy Table Runner Cake to celebrate the big 7-0! Because when you’re the baker, you get to make exactly what you want for your own birthday! 🎂🥳

One of my favorite things is creating cakes that not only look beautiful, but taste so delicious that you’d never know they were gluten-free! ✨
