SPECIAL ORDER INFORMATION
Wedding and Graduation season are here! I've had several recent requests for custom orders, so thought I'd take the opportunity to share my information on both my availability and my artistic ability!
I'm often asked "How far ahead do we need to place a custom order?"
I unfortunately don't have a set answer for that question. Unlike big bakeries with large staff, I can't say anything like "two weeks notice".
For the most part, I'm a one man (woman π) show. Im lucky to get some extra help from family and friends, but only when they have some extra time. I don't have a "staff".
Which means I can only take on what I can do myself (and still do well enough that I'm proud to put my name on my work). EVERY week is different. Some weeks are just Markets. Some weeks are filled with parties. Some weeks are quiet, and others filled to the edge of my sanity!
So I only take a limited number of orders each week. Some weeks are completely free (the sweet flower set in the photo below was a last minute order that I was not only able to accept, but truly enjoy makingπ). But that isn't always the case. I am currently fully booked up completely for 16 weekends between now and December.
If you know you want something, make your request as early as possible. While I can sometimes handle orders within two to four weeks, some weeks, I just can't! I'm getting too old to pull all nighters!!!π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ
ALSO....
I am not taking ANY intricate design or multi tiered cake orders. They are extremely time consuming as well and take me away from the high volume baking we do for the Markets.
And if I were to be honest, while I can make some "pretty" cakes (and I LOVE playing with color), I'll be the first to admit that my artistic talent is limited to a small and simple collection of skills. I've decided to only take on what I can do (and again, do well). My handwriting (on cakes) is amateurish, so I now stock an array of Happy Birthday cake signs/picks.
The cake below is the cake design we use for all of our cakes. Naked sides, simple frosted design.
I'm far more flexible with cupcake orders and can handle more orders (and more last minute orders).
I hope this helps explain where we stand on special orders. I do what I can and will always do my best to help my amazing customers. (Just not to the detriment of my health anymore! ππ)!
