If you’re curious about how Cakes by Lilo came about, Lindsay would tell you it all began in 2010. Though she usually baked the cakes for family get-togethers and birthdays, her passion was lit when she had her son, Cristian. During the preparation for his first birthday, Lindsay decided she was going to make his cake…but it wouldn’t be a simple rectangular cake, still in the pan, iced with store-

bought frosting. His cake was going to be a 3D Winnie the Pooh Bear cake with a honey jar. Honestly, the final product was rough…but she was proud of it. When Lindsay looked at the final product, though flawed, she saw perfection. Because it was something she created out of love, determination, and joy. Lindsay decided on that day, in 2010, she would make every birthday cake for him…but it didn’t stop there. Family began requesting cakes for baby showers and birthdays; and Lindsay happily made bridal shower and wedding cakes as gifts to those close and dear to her. With each cake she crafted, she learned new techniques, pushed the limits, and loved trying new decorating ideas which intimidated her. Soon, friends and more family began reaching out to Lindsay for cakes and cupcakes. The more experience she gained, the more she realized how time consuming creating beautiful desserts was and, as they say, time is money. Once cake and cupcake requests and interest from those outside her immediate circle began to grow, Lindsay decided it was time to turn her evolving art into a business. She began accepting deposits and costs and ensuring she had put enough time aside from her day jobs to properly craft the specialty cakes and cupcakes which were being ordered. Today, Lindsay’s passion for creating specialty desserts has grown. Each request is fine-tuned before the baking begins, and once the decorating starts, Lindsay’s heart and mind get lost in the sweetness she creates. Your specialty cake is not just another order to Cakes by Lilo, it is the chance to express the love, determination, and joy which we were built upon.
