Took my 5-yr-old to the sweetest story hour in a community garden this morning! 🌻

Description from their event posting on Facebook:

“Children’s Garden Hour: a story time and garden activity with a local teacher. Learn about where our food comes from and enjoy planting seeds, crafting seed pots, planning garden designs, and other child-friendly garden projects!

Parents, please accompany your child. We recommend that you bring water, a hat/sun protection, and closed-toed shoes. We will provide materials, garden gloves, and tools for the activity.

The Children’s Garden Hour is a free drop-in activity, though we do appreciate donations to support the garden and our programs!”

puts this on most Saturdays at 9:30am. I can’t recommend it enough!!

This weekend I was reminded how much joy there is in being bad at something new 💛

I’ve been wanting to learn to use my sewing machine again and I even made it one of my 2026 goals on my bingo board (yes, I have a physical bingo board on my fridge)!

I learned to sew from my mom when I was in middle school and made a couple of dresses at the time. But I haven’t touched it since I was about 13! So this felt like starting from scratch.

I can’t recommend workshops enough. The instructor and her helper made sure everyone could learn at their own pace, and they were warm and encouraging every step of the way.

The 2-hour class flew by as I got in my flow state and focused on this new skill.

It was so rewarding to go in with zero knowledge and come out with a physical reminder of how hard I tried at something new.

The best part was coming home and seeing the look on my kids’ faces when the said “you made that?! Wow, Mama!” 🥹😭
