I'm slacking on updates again (though still not actively "in business"), so here are the few cakes I've done in the last few months.

The dress is a pull apart cupcake cake, vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream, I think. These are apparently really popular, though I've only ever done two of them. And to supplement, there were extra chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream. This was for a bridal shower.

Little Izzy's second birthday cake. Hers are always fun, and her birthday is coming up again already in about a month (see how much I've slacked with uploads?).

I don't even remember what this cake was. Knowing my client, it was probably chocolate with raspberry filling. I made a crown out of gum paste, but the gum paste didn't feel right from the get go, and I should have known better. Once it dried and I took it off of the form, it crumbled into bits. Luckily I was able to pick up a plastic crown to top it with instead.

Izzy used to have a bad milk allergy, so she always got her own dairy free cupcakes with special butterless buttercream. She's out grown it though, and this year she'll get to have a piece of her big cake!

My woodland animal themed tree stump cake for my beautiful little cousin's baby shower. The figures and details were made of fondant. This was a six layer marble cake with whipped ganache between the layers. I used poured ganache for the outside bark of the tree and one of my signature odd tools to make it look realistic. This one turned out great, definitely one of my favorites.

My girl Sarah got married in May and I made her wedding cake. She wanted simple, but rustic, and I think I pulled that off. Her display turned out really nice!

The cake was a Styrofoam dummy, with the top tier for cutting and saving (which her husband apparently keeps eating).

They had 3 kinds of cupcakes, chocolate with mocha buttercream, vanilla with strawberry buttercream, and white with peanut butter.

These are the cupcakes from my twins' Halloween birthday party last year. They are Nightmare Before Christmas, Coraline, and Co**se Bride inspired.

The Jack are pumpkin cake with cinnamon cream cheese frosting and a fondant Jack face. The Co**se Bride were vanilla with strawberry buttercream, with a black stitched fondant heart and pink rose, to symbolize Emily. And the Coraline are red velvet with cream cheese frosting, with fondant buttons, to represent the Other Mother and taking Coraline permanently to the other side.

I made an extra dozen to experimentally ship them to my family in Las Vegas. It left a lot to be desired - they arrived in shambles - so I don't see shipping being much of an option, unfortunately.

I've gotten really lazy with everything involving cake. I've made a few since my hiatus started almost two years ago, but pictures didn't matter to me, I just wanted to get cleaned up and get the cakes out the door. I'm gonna look for some pictures to upload today, but I know I didn't even get a picture of a few of them.

So this is my little nephew Layne on his first birthday. He smashed his cake like a little boss and made me so proud. I think I made chocolate with peanut butter, vanilla with strawberry buttercream, and confetti cake with chocolate buttercream. Layne loved his cake, so I know they were good.

Hello friends of my little bakery. I have been getting a lot of notifications lately about new likes to this page. Because of that, I felt I needed to make a reminder that I am not currently "in business".

That's right - I am not making cakes right now. For any reason, and for any client. I thank you all for the new likes, but new uploads are going to be extremely rare for the next few years. I am the mother of 2.5 year old twins who have a fair share of issues at this point, and they need and deserve my attention and time. No amount of money can replace that. We are having therapy in our home 3 days a week to try and bring my boys up to speed. Making cakes with the quality I am devoted to just can't be fit into our schedule right now.

I am somewhat ashamed to say that last month I canceled two orders that I had taken far in advance. I felt awful. I gave the clients a week's notice. I thought I could handle it, and I was wrong. I let these clients down - but I think it would have been worse had i delivered sub-par work. I have to be the mother that my adorable boys need. I will be back to making cakes eventually. At this point though, I just don't know when.

Again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the support and for buying my product. Thank you for choosing me as your cake artist for your special events. I was flattered every time, and I truly put my all into your cakes. I leave you for now with a few cakes that never made their way to the page over the last 6 months.
