As a busy wife and mom of five kids, I had already been entertaining a change in jobs/vocation from nurse to something with more flexible hours and less stress. Often to reduce stress and do something for myself I would bake and gift granola and baked goods to friends, family, teachers, neighbors, etc. As a result I was encouraged to consider going into business to bake and selling my treats on a
more permanent basis. In 2019, I stepped down from my nursing career and enjoyed helping teacher friends by watching their children all the while investigating the possibility of opening a home-based baking business. Low and behold, it was a little more complicated than first anticipated and I ended up getting licensed and insured and actually baking at a commercial kitchen in my area. That being said, I have much freedom as to what and where I sell. Plus I am able to sell wholesale and out of state which is a huge plus. Who wasn't affected by COVID?! Well, after getting licensed and set up at the commercial kitchen, COVID hit and like everything else, I found myself suddenly at a standstill with my brand new small business. I had done all this work for, WHAT?! As things started to open up in June 2020, I was able to get back into the kitchen and start baking again. Small business is an evolution and a lot of trial and error. So please be patient as we experience growing pains from time to time. I am enjoying getting creative with flavors, partnering with other local businesses, and meeting so many new friends through this process. And most of all, I'm enjoying a flexible and sustainable schedule for my family. We do not have a storefront location at this time. Granola is for sale at
Please note, this is a side hobby and venture for me and I am only able to bake 1-2 days a week. Therefore I do not have the volume of products as a typical full time bakery.
