Uff dah! 2 years ago I moved from Utah to North Dakota. Being away from friends and family and the bitter winters have been an adjustment 🥶, but the hot dish, lefse, friendly midwesterner, and quirkiness of Fargo have made me fall in love with my new home.
Despite all it’s charm and welcoming nature, a series of bills have been passed to restrict transgender people’s right to receive gender affirming medical care, use the restrooms they feel comfortable in, be involved in school sports, and be identified as something other than their birth certificate states while also being unable to change their birth certificate. These laws are harmful and a huge threat to our trans youth and their mental health. Members of the LGBTQ+ community have left North Dakota over the bullying and discrimination they have experienced in this state. I want everyone to feel welcome, safe, and accepted in North Dakota and to feel proud of where I live. With Pride Month starting today, please help make changes to laws and policies by being informed, speaking up, being involved, voting and supporting and loving ALL of our LGBTQ+ friends. Happy Pride Month! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
