Today I taught the girls how to make the royal icing. Now they’ve learned the cutting, baking, and they’re taking off in creativity with decorating. We did these for Easter dessert. I’m so proud of them. They’re both really artistic and doing great with these cookies.

I’ve been thinking and planning and trying to decide for months what I wanted to do for my own birthday cake. My hubby usually buys one, but I told him I want to make my own. I settled on this. It’s a 3 layer butter cake with fudge frosting and fudge filling. The hydrangeas on top aren’t perfect, but the point of making my own cake is PRACTICE! I like it. I think it turned out pretty OK!

We bought an online cookie decorating class from The Graceful Baker. 2 of my girls and I learned some basics with royal icing while the toddlers ran crazy and burned energy.
It was a lot of fun and I think we all learned a lot. Now if these would just hurry up and dry so we can eat them!!!

All the treats are made! Peanut butter & chocolate fudge, peanut butter cookies, sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, state fair chocolate chip cookies, peanut clusters, chocolate bars and chocolate suckers.
