Miss Mabel: Day 3 🍞🤎
Well…our sourdough journey has already had its first parenting mishap. 😂
I started Miss Mabel Thursday morning, fully intending to check on and feed her Friday before going out of town.
I remembered approximately 30 minutes outside of my destination.
So Miss Mabel spent her first couple of days essentially home alone. 🤦🏽♀️🤣
BUT! This morning I saw a jar full of tiny bubbles, a little bit of growth, and a perfectly ye**ty smell. SHE LIVES!
She got her very first feeding: most of the original starter was discarded, 30 grams of Miss Mabel stayed behind, and she got 30 grams each of fresh organic flour and filtered water. Now she’s clean, fed, tucked back into her little corner of the bakehouse, and I’m ridiculously excited to see what she does over the next several hours.
Apparently sourdough is mostly flour, water, patience…and becoming emotionally attached to a jar. 😂
We are VERY much beginners over here, but I promised I’d bring you along for the whole journey…the bubbles, the mistakes, the learning, and eventually (hopefully!) Miss Mabel’s very first loaf. 🥹🍞
But today? We’re just proud I didn’t kill her. 🤣
Day 3. First feeding. Miss Mabel is officially on her way. 🤎
