A MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER:
“Steel Town Bagels, LLC is a small town, micro bakery founded out of boredom, passion, and necessity. I derived the concept from two passions that I have, my hometown, and Pittsburgh sports teams. Growing up in Weirton, WV, our steel town was vibrant, and successful, as were the mills in the Burgh. This instilled in me a solid blue collar work ethic. Living so close to Pittsburgh, I have been a sports fan of all of their teams. Our logo is a “smelting” of old skool Weirton Steel and the Steeler’s logo colors. As a professional chef and culinary educator my entire career I always loved the “search” for a great bagel! Moving to Indiana, from Pittsburgh, I have found it difficult to find a real New York style bagel and not a simple baked bread-bun with a hole in it. Messing around with bagels at home during covid, I think we have developed a product that might serve Indiana, PA and support local vendors and the Indiana Farmer’s Market. While our product will not be served in a brick-and-mortar storefront business, Steel Town Bagels will be available during many of the dates offered at the Indiana Farmers Market. Please stop by on Saturday mornings to say hello, chat, and grab some bagels with our homemade schmears.“
