Sports in Kansas Tennis Player to Watch: Sarah Veile, Independence, Sr.
Sarah Veile has been a key contributor to Independence's successful tennis program, helping the team capture three straight regional championships and back-to-back SEK League titles while finishing third as a team at the 2024 state tournament. Veile earned a 12th-place finish in Class 4A singles at the 2025 state tournament after posting a 25-16 record. She also placed fifth at regionals in both 2024 and 2025 and improved from fourth to second at the SEK League Tournament over the past two seasons. Whether she competes in singles again or teams with Morgan McLenon in doubles this fall, Veile will be one of the area's top returning players.
“I can’t wait for my senior season, and I’m excited for the challenges and wins that are coming,” Veile said. “I’m hoping for a top-eight finish this year, and I’m so glad I get to spend my last season with some of my best friends and amazing teammates.”
A standout multi-sport athlete, Veile has also earned UCA All-American honors in cheer each of the past two years, helped Independence win an SEK League basketball championship, and qualified for the state track and field meet in the long jump. With experience, versatility, and another strong team returning, Veile will look to cap her high school tennis career with her best postseason finish yet.
