I’ve been debating whether or not to make this post but I have decided to go ahead and post to hopefully bring more awareness to this ever growing disease.
I found a lump in my right breast in October 2022. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2024. We have no history of breast cancer on either side of my family. Thankfully, it is the least aggressive kind. I will have a lumpectomy next week to have the lump removed, a lymph node removed that will be tested for cancerous cells, and a few rounds of radiation which should be the extent of it for me, if no cells are found in the lymph node. Since I was diagnosed, I have learned of 3 other women who have also been diagnosed with breast cancer since January and several others who have been battling it for a while. A few of them have the most aggressive kind and will require much more treatment than I will. This is not a post looking for attention or sympathy, rather to remind all of you ladies out there to check yourselves regularly. If you have felt a lump, please don’t wait to get it checked out. Please be aware and take care of yourselves.
