In honor of Women’s History Month, we’re spotlighting women-owned businesses we admire.

Today: Janet’s Finest Compotes, founded by Janet, run by Angela & Jessica.

Inspired by her Midwestern farm upbringing and a lifelong love of cooking for family and community, Janet began crafting compotes more than 25 years ago using all-natural ingredients and thoughtfully layered flavors.

Today, the business is run by Janet’s daughters, who continue to honor the traditions and values their mother started. The bird on the label is a nod to that farm heritage and the generations of women whose legacy lives on in every jar.

We admire the way this family has preserved both craft and tradition while continuing to share food that brings people together.

Today: Sunday Night Foods, founded by Eileen Gannon.

Eileen created Sunday Night Foods after decades of baking and gathering people around the table. Inspired by time spent in the kitchen with her mother and a lifelong love of baking, her products reflect the care and thoughtfulness that come from making something by hand.

We especially admire her belief in the power of food to bring people together. That sense of connection, slowing down, sharing a meal, and creating something meaningful, resonates deeply with us.

We’re proud to share our platform with women building businesses rooted in care, craft, and community.

Today: Curio Spice Co., founded by Claire Cheney.

Since 2015, Claire has built Curio around a thoughtful and principled approach to the spice trade, prioritizing relationships with small, sustainable farms, traceability, and ethical sourcing. Curio's blends celebrate a sense of place and the people behind them. We’re especially proud to use Curio’s black pepper in our Gruyère Biscuits!

Lisa’s go-to bite:
Gruyère with prosciutto, Délice de Bourgogne, and a touch of Dijon — rich, creamy, and classic.

Beth’s perfect pairing:
Cocoa biscuits with Cambozola blue cheese — sweet, savory, and a little unexpected.

At Effie’s Homemade, we believe that food brings people together, and we’re proud to support partners who share that mission:

Project Bread works to end hunger through programs like The Walk for Hunger and year-round advocacy for food access.
The Food Project empowers youth to grow healthy food and build sustainable communities.
Women's Lunch Place provides women experiencing hunger or homelessness with meals, community, and dignity.

We’re grateful for the chance to walk, share, and give alongside these incredible organizations.

Today we’re taking a moment to recognize the small businesses who support Effie’s. Small Business Saturday is a good reminder of something we see all year long: small, independent shops make a real difference. They take the time to get to know their customers, they hand-sell the products they believe in, and they make room on their shelves for brands like ours.

We’re grateful for the store owners, managers, and buyers who welcome Effie’s into their spaces, and share our biscuits with their communities. The relationships we build in shops like these matter to us.
