Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, occurs each year on June 19. Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and was first celebrated in 1865 after federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people were freed – nearly three years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth serves as a reminder of our shared responsibility to promote equality, justice, and inclusion.
