A princess cake for a little beauty turning 4 👸

My customer wanted a vanilla, pink and white ombre cake with light blue accents 🩷

I went with some Lambeth-style piping of shell-edge borders and overlapping draped swags that create a delicate diamond lattice shape. I added edible pearls and we topped the cake with a rhinestone-studded crown that was the perfect fit! 👑

This order included matching cupcakes topped with a custom-made sprinkle mix and edible glitter.

Congratulations bride-to-be Julia!

Julia came to me with inspo pics and a good idea of what she wanted for her bachelorette party: A vintage-style, heart-shaped chocolate indulgence cake with blue and white frosting and hearts on the sides. I added a string of pearls on the top to beautifully frame the writing 💙

This is my dog Bridget 🥰

She's a Yorkie mix rescue dog and was a childhood birthday gift. The top photo is when we first got her, when she was just a few months old. People say she looks like Benji 🐶

Bridget is now 15 years old and lives in Atlanta with my parents. I can't wait to see her at Thanksgiving!

Last Wednesday in class we got to talking about storing cakes 🎂

Someone said her friend had frozen a cake she decorated at one of my classes, then thawed it to eat a couple weeks later and it still looked and tasted great. I mentioned that many people save the top tier of their wedding cake for a whole year in the freezer with no issues.

Then I briefly got on the subject of British wedding cakes. Did you know that the traditional British wedding cake is a rich fruit cake soaked in alcohol, covered with a layer of marzipan, and finished with Royal icing?

It's also a British tradition to save the top tier of the cake to eat at your first child's Christening.

It just so happens last Wednesday was also my parents' wedding anniversary (they've been married 31 years 🥰). Here they are cutting their 3-tier wedding cake and then cutting the top tier EIGHT YEARS LATER!! In the meantime, the cake had been stored in just an airtight cake tin, no freezer required 😳

What kind of wedding cake did you have? I'd love to see pictures!

Private class from last week 🥰 This one was SO MUCH FUN! Thank you Megan for booking me for your daughter’s birthday party! My youngest participant was only 3 while my oldest was 9 (I think). The girls had such a fun time decorating this magical cake design. Obviously the wafer butterflies were the most exciting part 🦋 I think more butterflies were eaten than placed on cakes, so it’s a good thing I brought extra 😂

I have a lot to share from last week, the first thing being my sold out cake decorating class at Belle Ame Vineyard! 🎂 As I expected, this design was really fun to teach. We used a new tip ( #79) to create lily of the valley flowers on the sides of the cake. I will be teaching this design ONE MORE TIME on September 2nd, and there are only two spots left! My mom and mother-in-law will be special guests at that class ✨

If this is the only post you see from me this week....it's because this might be the busiest week I've ever had.

I've never done two classes in the same week before, let alone on back-to-back days 🤪

I'm baking and crumb coating 26 cakes and filling a total of 100 piping bags with 6 different colors of buttercream frosting!!!

Then there are the laminated practice sheets, turntables, scrapers, piping tips, individual sprinkle containers, aprons, "to go" boxes etc. etc. that have to be organized, packed, transported and set up.

I feel very lucky to have to work this hard but I'm also looking forward to relaxing at the Two Bees & A Bud, Flower Farm cake picnic this weekend (will I see any of you there?) 😁💐🧺

I'll share pictures as soon as I can.
