Our savory September special brings back the Kolache di Recco, created in collaboration with Chef Felipe Riccio , a longtime Kolache Shoppe friend. Inspired by the cheese-filled Focaccia di Recco served at Rosie Cannonball, the kolache layers diced mortadella and creamy crescenza cheese inside our made-from-scratch dough. Fresh from the oven, it’s finished with warm honey butter and a sprinkle of flaky Maldon salt. Buon appetito, Houston!

The Great Kolache Road Trip took owners, Lucy and Randy to Portland, OR where they spent their vacation meeting fellow kolache makers and tasting the many ways the tradition is taking shape beyond Texas 💙

Stops included Lil’ Barbecue (la la la... la Barbecue’s little sister!), Origin Bakehouse, Podnah’s Barbecue, and teen-owned and baked sugarspellsbaking. Each had their own special story and uniquely delicious style of kolaches.

Lucy shared, “It’s one thing to meet other kolache makers in Texas, but to meet them as far away as the Pacific Northwest is magical.”

We loved seeing the Texas tradition, creativity and people reach the beautiful PNW in such a cool way. Can’t wait to see where kolaches take us next!
