MY Divinity Bakery

MY Divinity Bakery My Divinity Bakery creates original works of sugar art craftily designed specifically to your themed event. "No" she would say, "that's a family secret." MY.

The Beginning
It all started with a little old lady and a "secret" recipe for Divinity. My Great Grandmother Beatrice Rome was known for her candies. Whether it be Fudge, Pralines or Divinity, one thing was certain, it was guaranteed to be delicious. For years as a child I watched several ask for her recipe. A family secret that she never taught to the family:) Until one special day, I was the luc

ky recipient of the Divinity lesson. At the age of 12, I joined Grandma Rome in her tiny little kitchen with her spoon and a mixing bowl. No Kitchaid mixer to do all the work, her only tool was her poor arthritis hands. Never having baked anything prior to, this was the start of the passion. Looking back how one little lesson could ignite a fire is simply breathtaking. There was clearly something she saw in me as a child to determine it was finally time to share that "secret" recipe. A secret recipe she entrusted with her 12 year old great granddaughter. From the first lesson to the very last there was always one defining word to remind me of her, Divinity. There isn't a Christmas that goes by without someone requesting me to make Grandma Rome's Divinity. I have over the years shared this amazing recipe with the family. I have shared the "tricks" and everything that was passed onto me. Wouldn't you know it, no one has been able to get that right Grandma Rome taste. Divinity is an art that takes an eye and a feel; it takes an artistic eye. There is no way to write it down on a recipe card. When it came time to name my bakery only one word came to mind, Divinity. This word applies on many levels for the bakery. It is not easily mastered, it is not easily explained. It takes precision, passion and poise. Something that can only be carried out by a love for the art, sugar art that is! MY is also a unique word to describe me. Given that my name is Melissa York, it is also a play on words to apply to the bakery name. It is MY bakery, MY name and MY designs. It is MY Divinity that started it all. The Cakes Story
My Divinity Bakery creates artful masterpieces that steal the show as well as taste divine. Each order is customized to your event theme, style and color palette. Our cake goal is the "awe" factor! After all, a party without a cake is just a meeting. Julia Child

The Back Story
I first began decorating cakes at 14 years old. I attended several Wilton cake decorating classes to learn the basics and very quickly became addicted to learning new techniques. Pushing the sugar limits seemed to be the only thing that kept me interested. The world of combining art with food seemed fascinating! After years and years of friends and family questioning why I was not pursuing this talent professionally, I have finally decided to begin sharing this passion with others and thus MY Divinity Bakery was established. The Cookie Story
My Divinity Bakery almond sugar cookies are all hand decorated with artful layers of meringue royal icing. Each cookie rolled to perfection guaranteeing each bite to be divine. I bet you can't eat just one! The Back Story:
I have recently taken on the cookie challenge. After decades of only pursuing cakes, it was time to branch out to other delicacies. Cookies seemed to be the natural next step. Over the years of purchasing cookies from local bakeries, many of which seemed to skip the quality control topic, it seemed like the natural next step. So I decided to learn this new art, and let me tell you, this is truly an art form. Cookies are delicious, fun, colorful, and small enough to deliver multiple purposes. Every single cookie order gets me excited. I can't wait to see what you all request next! Pricing & Availability
