🇺🇸 THIS ONE FEELS DIFFERENT.

On September 11, 2026, twenty-five years after 9/11, more than 100 Kingwood High School students will sit in a room and hear about that day from someone who actually lived it.

For so many of us, 9/11 is not history.

We remember where we were. We remember the fear. We remember watching the television and realizing, in real time, that the world had changed.

But our children were born into a world where 9/11 is something they read about in a textbook.

That is why this matters.

Kingwood resident and entrepreneur Stephen King, CPA, founder of the Fundraising Accountant Community, will share his firsthand account with students at Kingwood High School.

He’ll talk about what he saw, what he experienced, and what it meant to live through a day that would change his life and eventually bring his family from New York to Kingwood.

He’ll even bring with him an actual piece of the World Trade Center that he has kept for years.

And I can only imagine what it will feel like for a room full of teenagers to see that.

Not on a screen.
Not in a documentary.
Right there in front of them.

As a parent, that part gets me.

Because there are some things our children need to learn from books, and then there are some things they need to hear from the people who were there.

They need to hear about the fear.
They need to hear about the loss.
But they also need to hear about what came after.
About resilience.
About rebuilding.
About choosing to keep going.

Stephen’s message to the students is one I think all of our kids need to hear.

You can destroy a building, but you cannot destroy an idea.

And maybe that is the part of 9/11 we have to make sure the next generation understands most.

That even after the unimaginable, people got up.

Families rebuilt.
Communities came together.
People found purpose in what happened to them.

And now, 25 years later, one of those people is standing in front of students in OUR COMMUNITY and passing that story forward.

There is something incredibly powerful about that.

To the parents of those students I hope they come home and tell you what they heard.

And I hope we keep making room for these stories while the people who lived them are still here to tell them.

Because one day, our children will be the ones responsible for remembering.

💚🌳 WE HAVE A NEW NONPROFIT PARTNER, AND I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS ONE.

The Livable Forest® is officially welcoming The Village Centers as one of our nonprofit community partners! 🤝

I had the opportunity to spend time with their team and community today, and y’all there is SO much potential in what we can build together.

The Village Centers does meaningful work creating opportunities, connection, independence and community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and that mission fits beautifully with what we believe at The Livable Forest®:

People need places to belong. Reasons to gather. And opportunities to thrive.

This isn’t going to be one of those partnerships where we announce it, take a picture and you never hear about it again either. 😂

You are going to see a LOT happening between The Village Centers and The Livable Forest®.

Events. Community experiences. Visibility. Support. Opportunities to get involved. And probably a few ideas we haven’t even dreamed up yet. 👀💚

We are incredibly grateful they welcomed us in today, and I’m excited about what comes next.

Please help me officially welcome The Village Centers to The Livable Forest® family. 🌳💚

This is just the beginning.

Y’all The Livable Forest® just added another income lane. 👀🛠️

We’ve officially added The Werks, our local services marketplace inside The Livable Forest.

That means if you’re already in our provider system through The Forester Scoop, you now have another way to earn.

You can:

🚗 turn rides on and drive
🛠️ turn tasks on and work through The Werks
🔥 or do both

So if you don’t want to drive that day, you can switch over and offer services instead.

With The Werks, providers can:

✅ choose the services they want to offer
✅ set their own pricing
✅ turn tasks on when they’re available
✅ build another income stream inside The Livable Forest

Services can include things like:

🧽 Cleaning
🛍️ Errands
🐾 Pet Sitting
🏠 House Sitting
👶 Babysitting
🪑 Furniture Assembly
🎉 Event Help
…and more

One application. Two income lanes.

To access The Werks, you first apply through The Forester Scoop and get approved in our system. Once approved, you can choose to work through The Forester Scoop, The Werks, or both.

The Forester Scoop-Get there.
The Werks-Get it done.
