Working in the customer service industry is never where I thought I would be today, but alas⦠here I am! š
When you work with customers, youāre going to get a bad review or a complaint every once in a while. I try to take those things on the chin, learn from them, and improve because at the end of the day, I genuinely want every customer to be happy.
But this past weekend, I was told that I didnāt go above and beyond, that I didnāt put effort into a cake, and honestly, that one has really been bothering me.
The amount of time, thought, and care I put into every single cake is a LOT. I work seven days a week, and I stay up way too late because I refused to go to bed until I felt like a cake is the best I can do. I don't rush cakes just to get them out the door, and I never stop caring about the finished product once I've been paid.
I will always take accountability when I miss the mark. Sometimes a cake doesnāt look exactly like the inspiration picture. Sometimes I think I can pull off a technique and it doesnāt turn out the way I envisioned. Iām human, and Iām always learning.
But I will never agree that I didnāt put in the effort.
My profit margins are razor thin, and there have been plenty of times when Iāve questioned whether all the hours I put into this are worth it. Iām certainly not doing this because Iām getting rich. š I do it because I love creating, I love making peopleās celebrations special, and I take a tremendous amount of pride in what I put out.
So, to my customersāplease know this: I always try. I always care. I always put in the effort. And I will always strive to give you quality and something you can be proud to put on your celebration table.
Not every cake will be perfect. But every cake will be made with my whole heart.ā¤ļøš
