We have a housing crisis, our parish is deteriorating daily. This is just a few of the pictures I took today in only ONE of the neighborhoods we traveled today. We see this daily over Terrebonne and Lafourche! People living in tents and make shift structures, with children. We can do better, this is a disgrace. We need help!

As I lie here thinking of the people we met today, I know I cannot say it better than what Raegan has said . So I’m Sharing her words. There are too many people here suffering but surviving. But for how long? How long can some of these people continue to survive in these conditions. Our bayou communities have been hit hard. Sometimes we have these hurricanes and a portion of our bayous are affected, and the rest of our bayous show up to help. What do we do when all of our bayou communities are hit this hard. Everyone is affected. This time is tougher. I know our people are resilient but our conditions are deteriorating instead of improving. It’s hard to feel like any of us are doing enough…..

Today was a beautiful day on the road and we met some beautiful people.

Some of the people we have had the fortune to meet on this journey will stay with me forever and have made me a better human. From Mr.Burt who is so kind and generous when he has lost everything to Mr. Naquin who sat under his house without a roof and told me how lucky he was to the sweetest young couple that cried when we gave to them and all of their super cute kids running around and climbing up the ladder that they are using to get in to their very damaged trailer that is VERY high in the air; we are in awe of their spirits.
There’s no roof on this home; and he thanked God for his fortunate life.❤️
