Hi all! I wanted to take a minute to update everyone on Jeanine, treatments are finally done! This past week was the last session of chemo. The amount of pain and suffering Jeanine has had to endure over the last year is beyond words. Her illness started to show itself this time last year, diagnosis of Cholangiocarcinoma at the end of May, surgery in June, complication after complication and hospital stays until September, moving right into Chemo, Radiation in December and January, then right back at it with the chemo. It is far more than any single person should have to deal with. During that time we lost our last remaining dog Kit in July. Not having her home at the end of the night from being at the hospital all day was devastating, Kit and Dottie were my best buddies since 2011, her partner in crime Dottie passing in 2021.
Jeanine is by far the strongest person I have ever met and my hero, her commitment to getting healthy for me and our family and putting up with everything she has had to deal with is exemplary. Every day has been tough, but she is finally done with the worst of it. It will likely be some time before she is feeling back to her regular self, but on the road to recovery!
PSA - If you aren’t feeling well, please see a doctor. Jeanine’s cancer was caught at a very critical time before it had time to spread and cause much more impact. Jeanine was 40 and perfectly healthy non-drinker at the time. The odds of this happening are astronomical. Without the diligence of the amazing staff and surgeons at Beth Israel, non-stop help and consultation of Dr. Karen Glatfelter, my amazing sister, things undoubtedly would be worse.
Thank you all for your support during this time. Shutting down the business was the only answer, family comes first. I love you all and cannot begin to say how much I appreciate everyone’s support! It’s time to move to the next chapter, more hours and menu options will come at the bakery soon, the time needs to be right at home before that will happen, I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding. If you are still reading, THANK YOU!!! Again I love you all and appreciate every single one of you!!
