It's happening! 1-4pm today in downtown Hopewell, and my sibs Peter & Jenn will be w/ me to dole out treats. I cranked out a little over 530 pieces from our home oven before calling it quits 🤣. Once they're gone, they're gone!

Hope to see you there. Remember to bring cash or have PayPal pulled up. We'll have a little cash change, and if you're paying with PayPal, we'll just check for confirmation on your screen that a donation went through.

Hello! While we aren't back in business, we wanted to support the great peeps and thought a bake sale/fundraiser at Lamb Arts Fest would be cool! Please note that donations must be made via PayPal or cash at the event; we'll have a QR code to the PayPal link and cash change ready for ya.

Not sure how much I'll be able to crank out of my regular-sized home oven, but I hope to have cookies, cupcakes, bars, cinnamon rolls, quickbread slices, and hot choc bombs (made w/ real tempered chocolate) available šŸŖšŸ§šŸ«. I don't know how quickly things will go, so please visit sooner than later if you miss WCB a lot 😘! Will try to post a "menu" on event day.

Our last day is tomorrow, and we'll be open mainly so you can see what retail items (local jams, soaps, coffee beans, WCB tote bags, and mugs!), miscellaneous small wares, and supplies are available for purchase.

TWO BIG NOTES:
Thanks to an enormous amount of interest, all of our large equipment, shelving, sheet pans, and cambros have been spoken for. Most of our dining area furniture has also been claimed. We do have some stainless steel tables and other miscellaneous items available at the time of this posting.

When I say limited treats, I really mean it! This won't be a regular business day; we're unable to make cinn rolls, donuts, cupcakes, or breakfast.

After arduous deliberation, Scott and I have decided to close the Wonder City Bakery chapter of our lives. We had grand plans to reopen this month after the arrival of our first baby and already restocked retail product, ingredients, and packaging in anticipation; however, various circumstances have emerged that compel us to close much, much sooner than we could’ve ever imagined.

The pandemic has brought challenges to running a small business in the restaurant industry: we’ve seen many of our costs double or triple across the board, and we’ve had difficulty finding additional qualified team members. However, we were also blessed immeasurably during the same period: loyal customers & neighbors who’ve become cherished friends; an amazing small team who made WCB the special and delicious place it was; being able to weather a worldwide crisis (y’all never stopped wanting carbs, thank goodness!), during which we were closed for 6+ months; and getting lucky enough to live out a passion with the financial and emotional support of kind people like you.

We didn’t anticipate having to close abruptly and are so sad we lack the functional equipment (our commercial mixer died) to make you cinnamon rolls one last time. However, we’ll be holding ā€œopen houseā€ hours this Saturday, Feb 26, from 10am-2pm, during which folks can peruse the supplies, furniture, equipment, and other tools (all purchased brand new during 2019 or later) available for purchase. We’ll also have retail products for sale and a limited number of treats that we know we can make without a mixer!

We look forward to seeing y’all at the open house or around town. From the bottom of our hearts, thanks for allowing us to serve you and be part of your life since December 2019. We’re also immensely grateful to our team members—we couldn’t have survived without your dedication and time with us. Lastly, thank you to our family and close friends for supporting and cheering us on through it all.

If you or anyone you know may be interested in discussing potential purchases or relaying employment opportunities for our incredible team members, please email me at [email protected].

WCB will be closed Wed, Jan 12 - Sat, Jan 22 due to equipment failure, team scheduling conflicts, and mainly taking care of new baby girl, Emmy!

We’re sorry you won’t get your fix for a couple weeks but appreciate your understanding as we prioritize family and self-care.

Hi, I'm Trish. The person who bakes stuff.

I grew up in a family of fierce home cooks and eaters, so food has always played a big role in my life. It wasn't until my undergrad years at UVa, however, that I started experimenting more in the kitchen. I even started a now defunct food blog ("before it was cool"). Many cooking failures, successes, and calories later, here I am. Wiser. More experienced. A little pudgier.

I worked for nearly seven years at a law firm in Richmond, where I met my now-husband, Scott. Right before we got hitched, we moved to the small city of Hopewell, where Scott grew up. I resigned from my analyst position in April 2019 to pursue baking full time and am honored to contribute to the Wonder City by doing what I love: offering yummy, soul-satisfying homemade treats.

If you see me around, give a shout!
