It's been a minute since I wore this shirt! Roughly 5 years since I closed down the Bakery... Hiatus or coming out of retirement - call it what you will!

It's hard to believe it is just about 10 years since you have passed on. The bakery shut down due to a fire, 18 months dormant and restarted during the COVID pandemic. Went about 9 months until I couldn't go any more. A lot has happened!

Uncle Joe used to mix for you and now his bakery has finally closed and I left with a truck full of "things".

10 years ago today, you ate vanilla ice cream made from vanilla you grew and pollinated! Was so glad that I was able to make that happen for you.

The future is always there and I have continued to think and dream about having a small bakery shop once again. The days of one or two thousand loaves of bread are behind me... Just want to make enough to satisfy the urge... Haha... So I keep telling myself!

And just like that, another long time established "Mom & Pop" has come to a close. Workers get older, The younger generation doesn't want to work so hard, rent and expenses just keep climbing and climbing...

If only the lines were 50 deep more often then the few days prior to their closing... If you cherish a "mom & pop" go order from them on a regular basis. Don't wait until they are closing for good!

The one thing I do miss about the Bakery was working with all the Chefs and various accounts to provide superb baked bread and cookies...

It's the relationships that I have built over the years that give me comfort to know that if the opportunity comes about for me to start baking again, I will have accounts that will take my products in a Heartbeat ..

The little touches of making me something to eat while on delivies or little notes left for me... This one happens to be my very first order from executive chef Daryl at @ Koolina...

Time to start the final purging of miscellaneous bakery equipment...

Would have made bagging cookies so much faster with options in bag size and custom printed labels!

Aloha - I have two vertical bagging machines which were purchased at Auction on May of 2020. I never had the chance to use either machine and are being sold in as-is condition. They have been stored...

At first, it was just . Someplace I went later in the evening after baking as it was just around the corner...

Many meals later, I got to know Chef, his wonderful wife and became a first name basis...

It's become a wonderful friendship brought together by being in the food business...

I have had thoughts of a late night eatery and is very close to the business model that I would thoroughly enjoy if only I was a chef... haha

Remember Chef - just because you are closing this chapter, doesn't mean you won't be in a kitchen again! I never really envisioned being back in a kitchen myself; let alone doing food demonstrations

Here is to a new chapter!
