Who loves HOMEMADE TOFFEE BITS?!?😍💯😍This girl right here! They are amazing when used in a variety of cookies, brownies and other baked goods!
Who loves the chemical laiden, months old, bland, sad excuse for toffee bits you buy pre-packaged at the grocery store?!!? 😬🤔🫣☹️NO THANK YOU!
Here is my exact recipe and process for making AMAZING and easy toffee bits at home that our world’s better than store-bought and far cheaper! These store at room temperature in a tightly soiled container for up to a week or can be frozen in a tightly sealed bag and used at your convenience.
😍INGREDIENTS:
-1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter (or use the same amount of salted butter and omit the salt later in the recipe)
-1 cup light or dark brown sugar (200 grams)
-1 tsp fine salt
1. Line a small sheet pan with parchment paper.
2. Combine all ingredients in a heavy bottom nonstick sauce pan over medium heat.
3. Use a candy thermometer to heat the mixture to 300° stirring frequently throughout the process. Initially, you will notice butter sitting atop your brown sugar, but as the process continues and you are gently stirring, the ingredients will combine and start to bubble and start to resemble thick peanut butter.
4. Once the mixture has reached 300° and is smooth and thoroughly combined, carefully pour it onto the parchment line sheet pan and spread into a thin layer.
5. Wait 20 to 30 minutes until it is thoroughly cooled and then break into small pieces with a mallet or other heavy object.
ENJOY!
