Absolutely love this circus theme first birthday cake for a sweet set of twins celebrating today! Three tiers of funfetti cake with vanilla buttercream and lots of bold fondant details. Unknown to my best friend across the neighborhood, last week I thought there was a solid chance I'd be both baking and decorating this cake in her kitchen (wonder what she'd have charged me). 'Luckily' for me, a steel beam order and permitting time meant this top-10 cake got to be my last hurrah in my current kitchen. It may be a couple months, but can't wait to come back with the first creation in the new kitchen! Went out with the cutest bang. Happy birthday, Ethan and Reese!

This cake might hit you harder if you, too, were "Made in the 80's". My husband had the funniest reaction when he saw it finished and named it his favorite cake ever - which is awkward bc I have made cakes for his own birthday for more than a decade. Either way, I sure love this cake. In case you're like me and wondered for any moment why the Mario Mushroom in the design isn't red (my decorator brain thought "there's already red in the design, why not use it there) its because that's the 1-up... as in extra life... like 1 year added to a life. And now I have this whole gender neutral 1 year old birthday party theme I'm 3 kids too late to use. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Happy 40th to all those made in '84.

I sang "How do you solve a problem l like Maria?" the entire time I was decorating this cake, but really Maria wasn't even the problem. The field's tiny yellow flowers probably took as long as drawing Maria in fondant with an xacto knife. 🤣 Sound of Music themed wedding shower cake from last week.

Favorite 4th of July cake yet (4th year of them). The Declaration of Independece made an appearance this time, the words on a single piece of parchment that started this who 248 year celebration. I hate to admit that until a couple days ago I don't recall ever having read through the entire document, but now I think it may become a 4th of July tradition. Man, they so beautifully, diplomatically and fiercely declared "we are FREE now, y'all". Hope everyone enjoyed their celebrations! I got to watch my american babies splash, play, eat good food, play with good friends and wave sparklers around. God bless the USA. ❤️🤍💙

Ok, Swifties... its your feedback I'm looking for! This is a 3-layer vanilla cake with milk chocolate ganache filling and a Taylor Swift theme. Felt a little like an amateur jewlery maker putting these sprinkles on one by one to make the bracelets. Hope this 8 year old celebrates like a pop star today!

Were building a Nittany Lion and mountain bike out of fondant enjoyable projects? Great big No. But did I grow in my skill and end up with a result I was proud of? Also no. I kid, I kid. I loved this cake when the torture of detailed fondant modeling was through. And I overheard (read: listened with ferocity after I heard the question posed) the birthday boy answer that Penn State's logo was his favorite part of the cake when asked... and that made my second team logo freehanded with an exact-o knife from fondant in the last 2 weeks well worth the trouble. My personal favorite is the beer stein cake - My kids called it popcorn and loved it most even while misidentifying the beer foam. 🤣 A big Happy 40th to one of The Bakerish' (and all sugar's) most enthusiastic fans!
