Hello wonderful followers! Our baby boy was born right before Thanksgiving, and I’m currently still on maternity leave. I miss making creations for you all soo much and hope to be back at it a bit later this year, once I can make it all work with our schedules. But right now I am posting here to ask for a little bit of help…please see below 💕.
OREGON COTTAGE BAKERS NEED YOUR HELP! A bit of background…
Most people who bake and sell baked goods out of their homes are considered “cottage bakers.” (I say “most” because there are a few other classifications in some states.). All cottage bakers must follow THEIR STATE’S cottage bakery laws. Every state has its own set of laws.
Bottom line…Oregon’s cottage bakery laws are among the most strict in the nation 😳 From not allowing us to ship baked goods to not allowing us to sell to local businesses for resale, current cottage bakery law even tells us how much we can make!
I’ve been working with a group of Oregon cottage bakers for the past year to get legislation introduced to get some of these outdated laws changed, and we are finally going to get this presented to the senate committee tomorrow, Wednesday, January 25! This is absolutely huge for Oregon cottage bakers…but we need your support.
Whether you purchase from me as your cottage baker or another cottage baker or even no cottage baker yet, we can definitely use your voice. This is the link to show your support for us. The verbiage is already taken care of. All we need is your name, address, and email. Nobody is going to call you. Nobody is going to knock on your door. This just shows the legislators that we have community backing. You do need to be an Oregon resident to show your support.
From the bottom of my cottage baking heart, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND SUPPORT. Truly means the world to us.
Please feel free to share my post.
