After 3 years of baking and decorating my heart out for my small cookie business, I want to share that I will not be taking any orders in the new year. All orders already placed in November and December will be honored. I will still be doing "Cookie of the Week" over the next month, so if you'd like to grab some cookies before we close our doors, you can!
This decision was not taken lightly. I've thought about this on and off for about a year. I began my cookie business when my littlest turned 5 months old. I was home and able to take orders when I could. My business grew and, by word of mouth, I got more and more orders. I was busy!! People always asked me when I had time to decorate. Well, the short answer was, during naps and after bedtime.
Soon, I was busy enough that my work bled into family time. I was sacrificing time with my husband and kiddos to bake and decorate. I don't think I realized how much of a toll it was taking on us.
Six weeks ago, I had a pretty extensive surgery. Thankfully, I'm recovering well and mostly back to my normal self. I knew I would be taking a month off from orders. While I was off, I felt like I could breathe again. I was able to spend more time with my family and relax.
Many of you may know that I'm a pelvic physical therapist. I took a break from treating after I had my youngest. In 2 weeks, I'll be heading back to work. I decided that this transition back to the treating patients would be a good time to step back from cookie decorating.
I want to say thank you to each one of you who has supported me in this endeavor. Without you, my business would not have been so successful. I loved that my creative side could come out to create each of your orders. I loved that as my business grew, I branched out from decorated sugar cookies to drop cookies, cookie decorating kits, cookie cakes, and finally teaching cookie classes. I really enjoyed teaching the craft of cookie decorating to our community.
