Friends, there's no easy way to say this, but Jane Dough is taking a hiatus. I’ve made the difficult decision not to attend the Hibbing Farmers Market this year in order to spend more time with my family while my kids are still kids. Having both children in school has really shifted my perspective, and I owe it to them and to myself to give them more of their mom while they’re home.

I intend to keep my cottage registration active, and I may do small pop-ups or custom orders from time to time. I’m not entirely sure what that’s going to look like right now. What I do know is that this journey has been incredible, and I wouldn’t have had any amount of success if it weren’t for all of you wonderful people. I hope eventually I will feel called back to baking on a large scale again, but for now, I know this is what I need to do.

You’ve all truly changed my life, and I’m so grateful to have met so many amazing people through this journey. I love this community that I’ve gotten to be a part of, and I hope that if I do find my way back, I’ll find you all waiting for me. 💜

Sourdough is, by nature, a slow and intentional process, but when you start to bake at the scale that I do, it becomes a lot more chaotic. Yesterday I slowed it down and mixed just two loaves, and today I was able to bake them at my own pace while enjoying the quiet calmness of it. I’ve missed this simplicity and the opportunity to slow down and take pretty pictures and really appreciate the beauty of the bread.

The foundation of my life and of my business is loving everyone. EVERYONE. I've made a point to never post my political views or opinions on here - after all, this is just a baking page. But at some point, enough is enough. This isn't even political; this is basic human decency. If you're not angry about what's happening, you're not paying attention.

I’ll be baking within the next week or so and I’m wondering what day of the week is preferable for pick ups. Keep in mind that these are porch pickups so the timeframe is basically all day long and at your leisure. Let me know please! 🫶
